Midwinter1888
You can use RefScope to find out which mods, if any, are altering Mario's AI package, and much much more. it seems that Maro Rufus AI package had some repetitions: for example, his Wander package is marked down down twice My mistake. The 'repetitions' just deal with different days of the week. And all are governed by the Oblivion.esm. Hmmm... I've disabled the Unofficial Oblivion Patch Supplemental, as that apparently added some lines to Maro Rufus' AI package. Here's hoping that will work. :)

The Unofficial Patch, and Supplements, fix AI problems associated with Rufus and Varnado, amongst thousands of other bugs. Something else is in your LO is likely overwriting the changes, nullifying them, which is what Arthmoor was stating. Thousands upon thousands of people use the UOPs and have no such problem with Rufus. You have issues elsewhere that are causing this. In case you're not aware Arthmoor is the one who handles the UOPs nowadays and many other great mods. He knows his stuff and would not steer you wrong with advice, nor with one of his mods. Midwinter1888
I fixed the problem by going back to an earlier save, before Rufus went walkabout, and then disabled the UOP Supplimental mod. He's been as good as gold ever since. :)
zergabub
What fixed it for me was killing Maro Rufus using the console and then using the resurrect command on him. The next day he was back to normal.
