creating ammo

which ingredients are you missing??

for all ammo types (as far as i know) you need the cases, lead, the primers and one other ingredient (which i just can't recall)

lead you can get by recycling scrap metal at any workbench

and all the rest you can easily buy

i'll give you the best system i know, for getting what you need (aside from cheating, that is)

go to the gun runners, and talk to the robot

enter the vendor screen, and buy all the things that you need

now save, and quit to main menu, and then load the save again (it is important to either quit to desktop, or to main menu, and not just load the game)

then the robot will have a new inventory, so that you will be able to find more items like you need

so just do this as many times as you want, and get all the ammo you need :)

also, you may sometimes be able to buy 5mm ammo from the robot, and sometimes even ammo boxes

hope this helps :)

I thought there were no hand load recipes for 5mm even if you have the Hand Loader perk (tried that with one of my characters). I know you can make normal 5mm ammo but I thought that was the only type in that caliber.

i have no idea

i don't have the Hand Loader perk, and i don't use 5mm, so i didn't try to create it, but i do recall having the recipe for a normal 5mm round

after checking, i can tell you that you can only craft the normal 5mm rounds, or the surplus rounds

you can't craft the AP or HP rounds, though you can buy and find them

That last ingredient is powder. They're rather hard to find too. Gun runners seem to be the only one carrying them, and not always so. Called "jar of xxxxx powder", and usually only one or two jars. Sometimes they only carry one type or the other. Buy them whenever they're sold! They carry no weight anyway, and is pretty cheap, so you can safely stockpile. Whenever I go to the gun runner I always stock up on those whenever they're on sale. Primers too, but they're available more often and sold in larger quantities.

Easier way to get them is to recycle them from existing bullets! Find out what kind of powder the 5mm needs, find other ammo that would yield that powder when broken down and is commonly available. Then just buy a lot of it then broke it down and turn it into 5mm ammo. You would need the casings however, 5mm bullets need 5mm casings, no substitution or anything.
