Oblivion / Hi-end settings

Hi,

After several days tweaking Oblivion, I have managed to run it quite smoothly (+- 18 FPS outdoors) with all in-game settings at maximum, HDR + 44AA with adaptative AA set in quality (i.e. using Chuck patch). I believe my system ys quite a high-end one, so I was wondering if s/o with similar specs (see below) has managed to suprass these settings (e.g. by setting AA to 6x). My PC is as follows:

AMD Athlon 64 4600+ dual core (I have included multi-thread tweaks in Oblivion.ini)

ATI Radeon X1900XT PCI-e - OC-ed with ATI Overdrive utility (665 Mhz GPU, 780 Mem)

ASUS M2N32-SLI DELUXE (I Know, SLI is worthless with my ATI, but got it really cheap)

1GB 667Mhz Ram

two 1.5 SATA Drives in RAID 0 (+- 380 GB Space)

OC the processor does not seem to have much effect (maybe the GPU is working at max)

Any feedback will be much welcome!!

;)

I was able to get a massive performance/smoothness/load-time boost from some of the .ini tweaks (starting on page 8) here. I don't think I changed any in-game settings afterwards, but I'm not sure. My system would, I think, count as mid-end, if that's even a valid term.

I'm going to go through the stuff and append which ones I changed, and what effect it has on visuals.

Hardware-specific items will not be included.

NOTE: Unfortunately, the guide isn't arranged according to where items appear, so you'll need to use Search to find them.

Note 2: All my in-game distance settings were previously set ing-game at the half-way point. These, too, will not be included.

ITEM					ORIGINAL	NEW	VISUAL EFFECT
iShadowMapResolution	1024		128	none
fSpecualrStartMax		1000		500	none
iMinGrassSize			120		80	unknown
Movies-All the loading movies removed none

Woulda sworn I changed more than these, but this is all the items I remember changing.

The only possible change I may have made in-game is switching Large textures to Small. Wish there was a way to force shop signs to use large.

additionally:

bAllow30Shaders=1 HARDWARE SPECIFIC, check RendererInfo.txt

bBackgroundLoadLipFiles=1

bLoadBackgroundFaceGen=1
