We want to create a set of new spells with custom animations. We want to tweak colors and apply new textures to existing animations. We have tried changing shaders in nifskope with no success. We want to know how to make nifskope render the effect as it appears in-game, how to edit the nifskope animations, and how to import them to the Creation Kit. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

check SpecialEffects in CreationKit... almost all EffectShaders, Explosions, ImpactData, ImpactDataSets or Projectiles are connected to .nif files so you can create and set-up your own "specialeffect" in CreationKit and add own or changed .nif effect... almost all .nif effects contains some textures that affects colors and other stuff that can be changed... but if you need to edit the actual 3D model of the nif effect, then you will need 3ds Max or Maya.... the best way to learn how this works is check some magic effects in CK... and if you need to render the effect as it appears in-game, then use CK for this... not NifSkope...
