Shwric
Hi guys, I'm currently trying to builld a hidden refuge for my Oblivion character and chose to place the entrance to these halls near the IC Waterfront. To give it a more "secret" touch I placed the entrance underwater (in Wilderness 12, 15 to be precise). But what happened now was that soon all kinds of NPC tried to enter this door!!! As I set it as such that it would open with a special key only, none of the NPCs could get in. Yet, they kept trying and (because of the entrance being underwater) actually drowned! So after a while there was a significant number of drowned NPCs blocking my entrance (funnily enough, there was even a horse!) My question now: Does anybody have an idea why all nearby NPCs want to enter that door and how I could prevent this behavior? I mean originally it was supposed to be a hidden entrance... Any helpful feedback would be highly appreciated!
Vagrant0
Does the interior of this place link anywhere, like other cities, or places in the wilderness? If so, that could be the reason why. NPCs try to find the shortest route between two points. If there is a teleport in IC that leads to Chorrol, any time an NPC is told to travel to Chorrol they will probably pass through IC and use that teleport. They will do so even if is set aside with keys, factions, or anything else. This is why most of the teleport room mods just don't work right with Oblivion, and as far as I know, there isn't any way around it.
Shwric
Yes, it actually does link to other cities (it has teleporters to the mages guilds), so that could well be the reason for the NPC behavior. Thanks for the clue, I will do some more testing on this and if the teleporters really are the reason for the bug, I'll try to find a workaround or - if everything fails - just do without them. Thanks Vagrant0!

Create one or more additional teleport rooms at more convenient locations. NPCs should use those instead. Alternately, instead of a door (in whatever form) have a script that sends the player to wherever.
