How would one go about expanding the map borders south?

I was at crimson canyon i think its called (very south of the map, below nipton), and I somehow managed to make it onto the south cliffside (I had to kill some nightstalkers and do some dicky climbing and rock jumping)

Upon getting to this destination after much hard work, I discovered that I wasnt even supposed to be up there and there was miles of empty desert, that with a few tweaks, could become an awesome new area.. How would i go about expanding the borders so it doesn't crash when I try to load games that are literally off the map.

My characters icon on the world map was like 5 miles south of the map.

There is soooo much unused space there.
