vram1974
Sofia has a New York accent? lol We're off topic now but I really like Hoth and Valfar if you don't mind male companions. Hoth is really tanky
N2TheFire
This is an old topic, but thought I would reply anyway... Sophia - Hilarious companion, LOVE her voice and the "New York-ish" accent. Of all the companion mods I've used, Sophia makes going through the game (doing the same stuff again) more fun. Vilja - Not quite as entertaining as Sophia IMO. But, tons more dialog that branches out. Very interesting and love how you can modify everything about her. Although I ran into an issue where she wouldn't change into her armor, choosing to run around stark naked. A nice view at the right time, but not with a dragon flying overhead LOL. Of the two, it's a hard choice. But I have to say I enjoyed Sophia a little more just because she made me laugh with her smartass comments LOL. skyquest32
vilja is wonderful but puts you through too much to marry her. I have never manged to go through all of it without giving up on the game in question from the distraction, as I tend to be goal oriented but shes a real princess, and sweet enough to kill a diabetic in under 5 min. Im just not so laid back as a dovakin. Yet I like her...I like her a lot. Lol would just rather, marry herafter chapter one and get to go through all else married. Sofia is as advertised, she is what she says she is, she dose not fit lore in rp, shes great fun, most comments are faltering and funny...but some of it is a little crude but most would not care, if they are not rpers like me. I still use her often though I am manly referring to just 2 lines one of them the peeing in a bottle and selling it as a youth potion to drink. The other a random insult, which would be fine if related to something happening but can occur at random highly inappropriate times. That said the mod author gives clear instruction for fixing this or any line issues you may have if not technically lazy. Best? Marriageable Serana moD! if you can live with the jealousy of her on a couple levels as a darker character, she is the ultimate wife though...and for the right sort of character, you cant not fall in love. Best thing is its not awkward but perfect and fully integrated, she has taken from game, relevant lines too. Almost seamless.

I believe that there is a patch that Vilja's creator made that fixes this clothes thing that sometimes will occur. Seems that it has something to do with form lists or some such. On one play through I encountered this problem but played on, even though she would sometimes be naked and at other times wearing half of everything she owned. Yet still I just played on, figuring that "she is what she is". After much time and travel, I completed all of her quests and then declined the marriage. Back in solitude, she started to disobey commands then really flipped. Last I saw her she was in the Winking Skeever, naked, absolutely intoxicated and slurring her words. Can't really blame her. How many times has the phrase "I've decided that we should just be friends" work out to a happy ending? Sophie is still good (?) though and goes everywhere with me........ even if I tell her to stay put.
kevkiev
I'm back to Skyrim after about a year and just kinda getting my sea legs back, so to speak. (Been playing FO4, but was really disappointed in the questing side of things in that game so have shelved it for now.) Everywhere I turn it's like "oh yeah... that!" I'm only a bit into level 1 and kinda forgot that you can't get a vanilla companion right away. Just deciding whether or not to hook up with Vilja or not. Got her really late in the game last time, so it would probably be quite interesting to develop the storyline with her in tow. Not to mention the handiness of someone to carry stuff  And I love what I'm hearing about how she interacts with Inigo - maybe I'll give that mod a try along the way. Decisions, decisions. Just kinda rambling here, but it's coming back to me that the only thing that bothered me about Vilja (nothing about the mod, just a personal thing) was her occasional sniping at Serana. Really wish they could be friends, as I just love traveling with Serana. I find her to be such a sympathetic character with what I I find to be a really tragic backstory. I recall wishing that the PC could have some dialogue to stick up for Serana a bit in those sit'ns. Oh well... Sofia sounds like a really well done mod, but for some reason it just doesn't appeal to me that much. Kinda like what skyquest 32 said about not quite fitting into the game as well as Vilja. Whoa.... wait.... just saw the part in Skyquest32's post about the marriageable Serana mod. For realz? I am SO going to look into that. I think I'd heard about that a while back, but for some reason I thought it was kinda buggy. Sounds like maybe I was wrong about that. Edit: Hmmmn.... going by the comments thread it seems a lot of peeps are having trouble with that mod and the author isn't too involved in things. Anyways, sorry, don't mean to derail the thread. Moksha8088
I was just thinking yesterday how much I enjoy the complexity of Vilja. How nice to have characters like Vilja and Inigo commenting on my quests. It is nice that Vilja can remind me of pending quests and even congratulate me on a quest well done. It's good when the Dragonborn is praised for something more than killing those foul Glenmoril Witches.

Serana is romantic and adorable. your best bet and playing through dawnguard you two have a real history together. I have found a simple solution to anything I posted about concerning that mod, the author being there is non relevant as of now to its working. It seems like it just made it like it should have been, almost like the original intention was the bug...your letting seranna do what she really would have done. Shes the vampire dragonborn's girl ultimately. She dose not desire any other followers getting in the way of that...in it together. Problem with vilja is that unlike herself.. the actors that come with her esp seem childish on one hand, like Saturday morning cartoonish...and also a bit stoned on the other.... like they have been sedated or confused slightly sometimes. Thanks much for the feedback. After I posted I noticed the "Queen of the Damned" mod that turns her into a formidable combatant in the way she probably always should have been. Combined with Dialogue Edit and Marriable, assuming everything works nice (which sounds like they may well do), there's all the tools to make for a simply epic Serana-themed playthrough. Unfortunately, I don't think that really jibes with having Vilja as a companion for the reasons I mentioned. I did enjoy having her as a companion. Her ability to lead on horseback was especially amazing, and gigging with her at Taverns was pretty cool too.

This mind you this is just a guess, but perhaps the two voice actors, playing the cartoonish Nords, reasoned that if their assigned characters were foolish enough to steal and drink the unknown contents of a bottle in the hopes that it might be mead, they should not go with the full Royal Shakespeare Company approach. It doesn't hurt to be sympathetic to such a judgment call.
