MrLamar
Hey all. Can someone explain to me what exactly LOD is? and how it works? Thanks!
Deleted1744345User
The World LOD dialog is used to generate LOD terrain and LOD building geometry for the world. Without it, new world spaces that are being played in-game will not render at a certain distance. Generating LOD can take a long time, but is absolutely necessary when creating and playing new world spaces. More information can be found on the GECK wiki HERE. MrLamar
Oh i see. But is there a way to take it out in a certain cell or selected area? I'm trying to expand Goodsprings, so i flattened the mountains around Goodsprings, but unfortunately there is some "fake" terrain there (I'm assuming that has to do with LOD?) Deleted1744345User
It definitely has to do with LOD and it is stored in files in the .BSA archives. Specifically, the Fallout - Misc.bsa under lodsettings\wastelandnv.dlodsettings since you are editing Goodsprings. You need to delete that file for the fake terrain to disappear. I think you will need to extract everything from the mentioned .bsa file, delete the said .bsa archive, regenerate LOD when done, then repack all old files and the new LOD file into a .bsa and name it to Fallout - Misc.bsa. I don't recommend doing this since LOD generation takes a long time, you can't delete the old LOD file in the .bsa browser from FOMM, and you're modifying a core game file. Instead, I recommend just making a new world space and starting a new settlement with its own LOD. This might be a bit confusing, so PM me if you have any further questions as I might forget to recheck this thread.
Interfer0
I may begin experimenting with a trick. Creating a new worldspace, and making the terrain. generating the LOD for that worldspace, Then trying to hack that LOD I generated into the LOD of the wasteland. But not really time for that.
