Park77
I just noticed how many mods I've accumulated on New Vegas. I am wondering what mods you guys have, and which ones you've come to think as being essential. My Essential List:-Nevada Skies - couldn't imagine wandering the Mojave without it now-Imps Timescale Adjuster - Time runs at a 1:1 ratio when talking, in combat, or indoors.-NV Explosive Knockdown - All characters (incl player) are knocked down when in blast radius of explosive-Ninja Perk fix - makes crit bonus +15% instead of x1.15-Improved Sneak - A more logical sneak system-RNV Extender and RNV More Where That Came From track pack-CONELRAD Radio-Clean up New Vegas - Gets rid of litter on streets that you'd think people or nature would have taken care of over 200 years-Improved Throwing - I use melee, so its useful to have a mod that lets you craft throwing knives and retrieve some of them from felled foes.-Intrusive Invisible Wall Remover - gets rid of those pesky invisible barriers that get in the way of exploring-Further 3rd Person Camera-MTUI - changes text formating so that more text fits on the screen-Inventory Sorters Some ones for fun:-Beware of Girl Type3 and Breezes Males replacer - I put up with seeing fiends in white t-shirts after robbing them, but seeing NPCs in fruit of the loom in the Ultra-Luxe Bathhouse was beyond stupid-Drugs are Bad M'Kay - makes taking chems fun-Glowing Sarsaparilla Sunset Star Caps - got sick of looking for them-Alsatian Rex - turns him into a German Shepherd-Populated Casinos - you know, cuz you'd think New Vegas would be more crowded-DK_Bullettime - I HAD this as an alternative to VATS since you can't aim in VATS using melee. Uses AP. Still cool.-Kobo Better Binoculars - makes binoculars useful....although I never use the things anyways-Tailor Maid - so I can be purty Edited December 4, 2010 by Park77
CarlCorey
My essentials are pretty similar to yours. I use the DarNifiedUI beta instead of MTUI though. I'd add these mods to the essentials list: SPECIAL Fixes - fixes the behavior of the SPECIAL stats to match the in-game descriptionsDeadlier Explosives New Vegas - Adjusts explosives (grenades, mines, projectile explosives) to be more deadlySlow Minded - adjusts the amount of experience earned so you do level up so dang fastAnd, for my own preference: Less Dismemberment and Limb Explosions - because I don't believe I can actually punch someone's head off with my fist
frank lee
Essential are; heroinzero's SVD rifle,DreadWolf's Glocks, and almost any of Moraelin's big blades, currently enjoying European Greatsword. those are the 'don't leave the player-home without' items Then AlexScorpion's Readius,Pelinor's Glow-sticks and FinalFrog's DLCC that got my beloved Hellfire armor into NV are all pretty close to essential . . . . Finally without 'IIWR - Intrusive Invisible Wall Remover by Urbex I'd have put my fist through the screen long before I got to Vegas, Thanks guys. secksegai
I typically can't help but make my own personal mods on top of fixes I find along provided by fellow members. Ling's is a must for any play through from this point for me though, the vanilla faces and hair are just too limited and generally ugly for my taste. MTUI and asuka is nice.TG's armor is great, though preferably for male couriersThe ghost body suit's a must for my female couriers. Main reason I don't console anymore - no mouse/keyboard! zerrodefex
The most truly essential mod in my opinion:- Perk Every Level: Removing the overpowered stat-boosting perks from Fallout 3; good idea. Allowing us to only take half as many perks; BAD IDEA. Some more really useful ones:- Vault 11 House Fix: Corrects the bug that made the turrets in Vault 11 part of House's faction, causing you to fail his quests if you destroy any of them.- Followers NCR Alliance Fix: Corrects a bug that makes one of the better Followers endings impossible to obtain if you're following the NCR victory path.- Classic Black Leather Armor Male and Female: Leather armor should be BLACK!- Populated Casinos: Puts some actual crowds in the casinos. Comes in three flavors of crowdedness so those on slower computers are not overwhelmed.- Free Wild Wasteland: Allows you to take two traits AND Wild Wasteland.- Reloading Expanded: Allows you to do more with reloading, such as melting down casings to brass and molding the ones you need most.- Armor Replacer Child NPC Fix: This makes it so that mods which replace armors in the game (such as those based on Type 3 bodies and such) don't do weird things to the children NPCs.- A Lighter C-Finder: One of my own, it drastically reduces the weight of Euclids C-Finder. I really don't believe that the Devs meant for it to weigh nearly as much as a Minigun.- A Better That Gun: Honestly, the vanilla That Gun has such crappy damage considering it's price and the ammo it fires. This makes it more competitive with the .357 and .44 Magnum Revolvers.- Cowboy plus That Gun and Machete: Another of my own, adds That Gun and the Machete to the list of weapons that are buffed by the Cowboy perk.- Exo's Armor Perks: Makes the other armor types more competitive with Power Armor by giving Armor Specialist perks you can take which are active only when those types of armor are equipped. The rest are just for fun:- Pitt Gal Stats- Pitt Gal Armor Icons- Tailor Maid- Shojo Race- Shojo Neko- Shojo Veronica
