(REQ)I'd like to see a Musket

I know it seems silly but I'd like to see a musket in New Vegas, It would probably be hard to do with all the reloading animations though.

Not necessarily. In the 1800's there were a couple of decades when breech-loaded muskets were produces. Basically the time window between the introduction of percussion-cap smoothbore cartridges and the mass adoption of rifled weapons. Museum versions exist which reloaded basically like a break-open shotgun, which is supported by the game.

Not sure if that is what you have in mind, since basically you could just take a shotgun and make it shoot a slug instead of buckshot, and you'd have a fairly decent approximation. But also one which doesn't really add anything new to the game.

This should've been in the request forum, but anyways

Its been discussed a bit that there are museums, re-forged weapons, and even private gunsmiths who make all sort of weaponary from all eras.

So finding a musket or flintlock would be very unlikely, but not altogether impossible.

A Mod idea to add fun outfits and weapons like this was the idea of an old wax museum, that may be full of feral sneaky ghouls (Maybe they can be wearing the clothes like glowing troopers) and full of out of era outfits like pirates, world war military outfits, victorian (steampunk) outfits, and of course weapons to match the outfits.

Heres the thread it was discussed in

Fun/Silly/Interesting Ideas And Mods

Heres a thread with a similar taste in armamants

Steampunk Mod

Hope that gives you some ideas

I'd say this is the opposite of silly. Muskets would be the most prevalent firearm in the post-apocalyptic world. The world is stuck in a pre-industrial phase with mixed technology and scattered knowledge of the old world. Flintlocks and firelocks would be the easiest firearms to produce. Larger factions (or lucky ones that settle on say a manufacturing centre that is still somewhat functioning) would be able to produce old world weapons that would have almost certainly decayed away leaving few working specimens behind.

The post-apocalyptia would have vast differences in technologies between groups. I almost guarantee a lot would divert to early to high medieval technologies since they'd be the most easily produced. You'd be seeing blacksmiths as a popular trade, not bloody general stores and "gun runners"

So no muskets are not silly. They make more sense than plasma grenades.
