junker18
So I've been taking notes while playing and matching up various portraits to the in game appearance of NPC characters with conversation windows (and even editing portraits to better reflect descriptions of characters). I'm pretty sure old IE games allowed users to mod in portraits for the hundreds of NPCs in the game, but how? I assume it will be a simple but tedious task. If somebody could walk me through it I'll get on it. Thanks. Edited April 12, 2015 by junker18
ch6tal
you need to have two versions of each portrait the big one 210x330 pixels and a small one 76x96 pixels both pictures need to be in the format .pngfor player characters place the pictures in folder:data\art\gui\portraits\player with the name of the big picture in this formatmale_human_o_lg.pngand the small picture in this format male_human_o_sm.png for companions/npcplace pictures in data\art\gui\portraits\companions or data\art\gui\portraits\npcswith the naming formatportrait_aloth_lg.png and portrait_aloth_sm.png
junker18
I know that much. I'm talking about giving portraits to the hundreds of NPCs that you talk to, but little else. The shop keepers, the quest givers, etc. Is there a way to add portraits to these NPCs so that when they talk it shows up just like the characters with portraits?
