Crazy, Crazy, Crazy

What's the story behind this quest?

For me, I ran into Black Mountain Radio after taking a detour helping veronica.

Climbed the escarpment overlooking the crater with the dead paladins, picked the hard lock on the gate, administered a spiked knuckle sandwich on the nightkin masters, and fixed a robot.

Next thing I know, I run into tabitha (whom I've never seen before) and the screen goes Quest Added Crazy Crazy Crazy...Quest Completed Crazy Crazy Crazy.

I was the easiest and most unexpected 1000xp I ever made, but I am assuming there is more to the quest than that...

Happens to me all the time. Your not supposed to explore, your supposed to spend half the game working out which quests to do in the right order.

Normally some homicidal maniac runs at me, I kill him (I'm just funny about that) an;

QUEST FAILED, BLAH BLAH BLAH

QUEST FAILED, BLAH BLAH BLAH

QUEST FAILED, BLAH BLAH BLAH

Well f**k 'em if they can't take a joke!

Glad I'm not the only one who has had this happen

Maybe they are attacking you under some false sense of security that you won't kill them because they are linked to a quest.

I can't help but notice your avatar looks like Lee Van Cleef

It's been a long chase but the level boss has no where else to run. As we rush into the room,

"this thing ends here" I growled at Boone but wait, Oh No! he has a hostage.

"Hold it right there" level boss growls "now drop your weapons . . .

or the quest dies"

"Shoot" growls the quest "shoot him" I look at Boone,

"Stand down, he's got us. . ." I growl . . .

Lol, but back on topic, Black Mountain is well named for me as the whole area is one huge glitch. I tried three times to do any of the stuff there and locked up or missing characters. Doors that don't work and one CTD. Whoa, just stay away from the place, bad medicine.

I thought Tabitha added a sense of humor, though you can't help but wonder just how she/it knew you had fixed him so quickly. Without listening to the broadcasts beforehand, it really seems out of place, since you have no idea what this mutant is about. Also, was surprised you never met Neil along the way, unless you shot him for simply being a mutant.

With all the cannon fodder mutants, its nice that Bethesda does occasionally give one an exceptional personality. While Marcus was my favorite, Fawkes and Uncle Leo (I think it was) were pleasant additions. I would have probably liked Lily if my first experience wasn't her telling me she knew how to be quiet about every 15 seconds whenever I decided to sneak a bit. When you take into account the broadcasts, Tabitha's appearance isn't terribly surprising. Should you not fix the robot, say free Raul first or something, she's actually a lot more threatening, wig and all.
