luckyluuke
Hi, i have just registered here. When I press "Nexus Mods" above to get the site to download mods it says i am not logged in. When i Login it says: ErrorThe site has run in to a problem, please look at the error message below...You have entered an incorrect username or password. Why is that? do I need a seperate account for modding site and the forums? But i created this forum account by regestering an account on Nexus Mods! Im very confused...And feeling very silly as I realize the answer is probably stupid easy...
sevra3
I'm pretty sure you only need one account across the forums and the nexus mods site. A quick test would be when you try to log on to the nexus mods hit the " I forgot my password" it will tell you right there if your user/email is registered to nexus mods. DrakeTheDragon
That's correct. The account you created when registering at the Nexus works on the file sites as well as in the forums.Do 'not' create a second one, as this would be in violation of the 1-account-per-user rule and could have negative consequences. There is, however, a difference between the software frameworks in use on both parts of the website. This is what makes you log in separately on a file site and the forums.Once logged in on 1 file site, though, your logged-in status should transfer to the other file sites as well automatically. It's only the forums which are a separate part of the system. This, now, also comes with another difference between file sites login and forums login, which might already be the explanation for your issue of being logged in fine here on the forums while unable to login with the same account on the file sites. The different software frameworks imply different regulations for acceptable passwords. If you entered a password that was accepted by the forums software, it doesn't necessarily mean the file sites would've accepted it as well, and vice versa. You could try changing your password to something not as complex, with no special, or in some frameworks even 'unknown', characters for example, to try figuring out what the issue was. Then feel free to change it back to something more secure but avoid the pitfall you successfully analyzed in your attempts that time. In any case, if you continue encountering errors when trying to log in on the file sites, while the forums accept your password and log you in successfully, it could as well be something else going wrong behind the scenes. Your post count says "0" while everyone can clearly see your "1" post in here, so this already doesn't look right to me either. You can file a Support Ticket by using the Contact Us form found on the bottom of every page in the forums and get in contact with the ones who can investigate your account and potential issues with it more closely, if everything else fails.
