Asura000
First of all, I apologise if this sounds confusing. I also have 2 parts to my question. 1.Ok well to begin with a few weeks back my computer had a sudden voltage jump and shutdown. This caused a problem with the harddrive (where also my windows, oblivion, and oblivion saved games was installed), where some drivers couldnt load. Eventually my pc, automatically repaired itself, but for some reason theres a small error with the NVraid driver where nothing saves if i restart my pc. As in, say i download a file to my harddrive, its there, but once i restart my pc, its as if I never downloaded that file, it disappeared. Also the repair keeps making itself a new "My documents". The old one where all my documents/pictures, and saved games were, are STILL on the harddrive but hidden, and just does not show the data if i go to "start > My documents" (which is blank) So i have to manually go to my Harddrive> Documents and settings> My name > Myname documents, to locate my actual data. So now thats explained. I wanted to start playing oblivion again where i left off. I found my saved games, in Myname Documents, and copied+pasted to the blank "My documents", so technically I can still play on my saved games.Unfortunatly for some weird reason even though i have my saved games, Oblivion reset my mods, so I lost my shinobi armour, my special swords, and whats worse my characters looks. I used some hair/facial mod, but it seems whenever i go into my saved game, Im in the location where i was when I stopped playing, but my characters hair, facial features have all reset (and lost my armour). So i tried to get back the facial looks through "Console > Showracemenu" but the game closes itself and brings up a error message saying, "Oblivion has encounted problems and needs to close etc etc" 2. is there a way to change the save directory. As in the default saved games direct is "My documents> My games> oblivion". I want to move the saved games directory to another hard drive, and another file location, is there any way of doing this? Anything i need to edit to change the path? Thanks in advance for the help.
Abramul
Two relevant lines in the .ini:SLocalSavePath=Saves\bUseMyGamesDirectory=1 I think that if you change the second to 0, the game should start saving in the (OblivionRootDirectory)\Saves folder. To change this go to C:\Documents and Settings\James Garrett\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion...wait a minute...if you can't change files in the My Document's directory... Try changing it. If it doesn't work, backup the Oblivion_default.ini file in (OblivionRootDirectory), change the line in that file, and delete the My Games .ini. This should cause the default .ini to be used to create a new oblivion.ini. If changing the My Games .ini DOES work, but gets overwritten when you restart, it should be possible to create a script or program that would automatically change the line on startup. Or you could set it up so the script changes the line, and then starts the game. I don't know how to get a .bat file to change a line in a text file, and a C++ program would be excessive. If all else fails, manually back your savegames up, and transfer them to the proper folder as needed. (Do OB saves run upwards of 1.44 MB?). Asura000
Well I tried this: First i tried to go to my documents, into the oblivion.ini, and change bUseMyGamesDirectory=1 and set it to zero instead of 1. Nothing happened, the game wouldnt save at ALL. Second, I tried to go into my oblivion directory and change the oblivion_default.ini, and change the SLocalSavePath=Saves\ to SLocalSavePath=G:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Saves, then setting the bUseMyGamesDirectory=1 in oblivion.ini In the My documents? My games folder. The oblivion_default.ini doesnt seem to have a bUseMyGamesDirectory=1, only SLocalSavePath=Saves\. I also tried going into my documents > My games > Oblivion > Oblivion.ini and setting the SLocalSavePath to G:\Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion\Saves, then bUseMyGamesDirectory=0, but still no luck. The reason I ask is in short: for some reason, oblivion saved games are forcefully saving themselves on D:\Documents and Settings\TEMP\My Documents\My Games. Obviously this is gonna wipe when i restart, I dont also wanna save on this hard drive, its too full/unriliable, so I wanted to change the path to a different hard drive. Any other ways, mods, ini edits? or am i doing it wrong? Thanks.
