Oblivion Expanded

Well again, this comes down to the way the leveling system works in Oblivion. Some people (like me) like the way it operates, others hate it. Be that as it may...

If you choose to play one of the default character classes, you'll definitely level up fairly quickly (some would even say "uncontrollably" and they'd be right). Characters played this way will most likely hit a brick wall somewhere around level 20-ish and not feel a need to level much beyond that point.

On the other hand, you can setup a custom character class as I do, in which you deliberately select least-used skills as "primary skills." This allows you to have complete control over how and when your character levels up. It's also the best way to get those juicy +5 bonuses at level-up that everyone hopes for. Your mod idea would be perfect for such custom classes, because the game lasts much longer when played this way (it can total as much as 200+ hours of playing time).

I think somewhere between 40-50 are good levels to shoot for, so far as "uber gear" is concerned. I can't imagine too many players wanting to push much past that level range.

Bear in mind that I'm talking about the default leveling system in Oblivion. I know there are mods that completely change the way leveling works and a few will allow you to pretty much go as high as you care to go. I never use them, myself... most make it too simplistic and I prefer to keep it complicated. :P

Well... that brings up a problem. I could change the leveling system, or let another mod/person handle it.

Thank you again Tessera.

If I DO decide to change the leveling system, what should I do? Does it need to be a little easier to level up, so that you seem to stop leveling at a higher level? Thas area of modding is completely new. I'll check the CS.

IS THERE ANYBODY WHO CAN CONTACT OSCURO?

You could perhaps add more trainers in the game. And add quests that level a certain skill. That would be much easier than changing the whole leveling system, I would say.

The problem with leveling past a certain point has to do with the upper limit upon individual skills. Almost all of them (with the exception of Athletics... I think) are capped at a max value of 100. That's 100 *real* points, not including any added effects from gear or whatever.

In other words, once you've reached 100 in all of your major skills, you can not level up any further.

It is on that basis that I posted the figure of "level 53" in one of my earlier posts. If you were to carefully setup your character so that it would be possible to level ALL major and minor skills to 100, then the theoretical top level in the game would be 53 (I think).

I suppose... if you wanted to get above level 53, then that hard cap of 100 on individual skills would need to be raised. The thing is, I don't believe the game engine will augment your abilities any further, even if you did trick it out and get your skills above 100. If that is the case, then you might level as high as you wish to numerically... but the actual gameplay wouldn't change at all, nor would your strengths. It would just be a number.

I'm not 100% positive about the above paragraphs. It's worth looking into.

Thanks Tiberiu- that would be easier, but, like tessera said, you can't get your skills past 100, and I haven't checked the CS wiki yet on how to change that.

Thanks Tessera (again) - I'll figure something out, nobody will have to worry about getting all of the armors, which will be made available in the new faction quest at some point (regardless of level), hopefully. If you can get through the quest.

The vulture suggested that I put a spot in the quest that allows the player, with an army, to do a full scale invasion.

This gave me a great idea that I have not yet touched on. You, the player, will be able ot do an invasion on the Sigil Palace, where the Sigil Originator resides. It will be an infiltration much like the attack on Dagoth Ur's dwemer ruin in red mountain in Morrowind. The palace will have MANY levels. At least seven, hopefully. Don't worry, there are potions, restorative fountains, and other things to help you on the way.

I won't tell you how you get here, but near the end of the quest, you will be teleported into the middle of a war. 500+ Aedra and Daedric Legion Warriors will be at war with each other. There will be magicians to heal you, so you don't have to worry as much about dying, and it autosaves before the portal. Once you start the quest, you cannot stop, so be prepared before you begin. If you survive the war... well... I don't think I'll spoil the dramatic ending and reward.

FEEL FREE TO PM ME NOW!!!

My PM is cleaned out and open now. Forget that I ever said not to PM me. Really sorry for the inconvenience.

I updated my sig again, and now it looks much better.

As always I'm open to suggestions, advice, and feedback.

Thanks

mm, i did forget to mention something. i made male without a father swords and all those for ALL the types of weapons, like iron male without a father swords, steel, glass, etc. since these new types are completely incorporated into the legends mod, and its alot easier to do a new race, ill just upload a mod with the steel argonian and the rock druid races for you soon.

you will have my full permission to tweak stats and abilities and all that as you see fit, but do keep in mind that steel argonians are supposed to be godly strong warriors and rock druids are supposed to good at magic.

p.s., if you have problems downloading or uploading somewhere (i feel for you), you could go to a place that has high speed internet, like a library maybe or school if you're that age, and just bring a flash drive or recordable CD, and upload/download there. thats what i have to do.

How are you going to keep the fps reasonable? This is heavy...

I might do an arena type thing that keeps enemie and allies coming, like in the battle for bruma, so that it is 10 on 10 or something.

There is a mod called Legendary Skills and Stats. It lets you level your skills to legendary level, above 100. The same with your stats. Sorry, I couldnt find a link.

You could also do a quest reward that simply levels you up via scripting?

The 500 aedra deadra sounded more interesting, but I do understand the FPS hit.

Perhaps you can put it so you arrive late, the aedra are lossing the battle... And then you arrive! The leader of the daedric minions spots you and challenges you to a honorable battle in an arena type thing. He comes up with 9 liutenants, but the fight would be 1 on 1 if you agree to certain terms, such as no magic, no poitions, etc. If you dont, they all charge on you (Dark Messiah had such a fight. belive me it was memorable!). Imagine a fight against 10 uber daedric lords? Now thats what I call adrenaline!

I think I am joining project serpent, but that won't take any time away.

Oh please do :). You wont regret it.

I have applied for three positions on project serpent. Concept artist (main), landscaping, and writing/ideas. I still don't know if I'm on the team yet. You can look at some art I did last night here.

Thanks. I did plan on the battle beginning as you raid the sigil place, then you are teleported to the battle. I had the idea that the Daedric Legion was immortal. They will be. The whole quest leads up to the Aedra finding out that the daedric legion is immortal and there is no way to stop them. They say that they will hold them off as long as they could, and you decide that there COULD be a way to defeat them. YOu use a portal in the city in Aetherius and it teleports you to the Sigil Palace. You have to go through it and find the Sigil Originator. The Sigil Originator created the Sigil Stones, and so has more magic than you can imagine. YOu collect the various stones around the room that give resistance to fire, frost, etc... and use them on yourself. Then you have to defeat the Sigil ORiginator and claim the Sigil of the Daedric Legion. Put it on a sword that you claimed in an earlier quest and a script effect allows it to do damage to Daedric Legion Faction. Take a portal from there to the battlefield, challenge the leader, and destroy him and the Mehrunes Sigil. The aedra copy the sword effect with magic onto their own weapons and finish the Daedric LEgion off. You are honored as Prince of Aetherius and receive a full set of Armor, Waepons, and other stuff.

That is the last part of the quest.
