Arizona Killer and Independent Vegas

Been looking around and haven't found a definite answer to this.

I'm aiming for an independent Vegas with my evil character, but I kinda want to help Caesar's Legion out until the big surprise. If I complete the Caesar's Legion quests all the way up to killing Kimball, am I locked out of the Wild Card ending? I know Yes Man/House say it's better for Vegas if Kimball lives, but you'd think you'd still be able to claim Vegas for yourself regardless.

Wiki says you have to complete "You'll Know When It Happens" to progress in Wild Card, but I'm just wondering if that is 100% necessary to progression.

I know there isn't but it seems to me like there should be two versions of No Gods, No Masters: one allied with NCR and one allied with Legion.

not from what i know

i've just done this quest today, and as far as i know, you have to defeat the Legion in the No Gods, No Masters

and i think you will have a problem if you try killing Kimball, as you will probably be vilified by the NCR (if they turn hostile on you, you will have one hell of a fight at the last quest, if you will actually be able to do the Yes Man quest line)

i'm really not sure if you can just switch between main quest lines like that

i would recommend that you stick to the Legion quest line, or stop with it BEFORE killing Kimball

i never tried that before, but i'm not sure that it will go to well, trying to switch after it all

of course, you could always just try it out and see

it may take a while to test, but if you make a save before trying it, there should be no harm done :)

Thanks for the quick reply.

Definitely looks like saving him is the only way to go. I'll make an extra save and test it out when I have time.

Just some more wishful thinking on my part: it's actually not too difficult to completely lock yourself out of an ending quest. You'd think that since Yes Man can't die, (unlike the other quest givers) and isn't faction associated that Independent Vegas could be the forced choice if you screw everything else up. That and fighting NCR AND Legion at the Dam would be one hell of a fun fight (depending on what you're definition of "fun" is).

you can't kill Yes Man??

i recall a conversation option about killing him, but i never tried it, so i don't know what it would do........

but you can't really lock yourself out of an ending quest

you may not WANT to finish the game in a specific way, but you will probably have to, if you have no other options

all i can say for myself is two endings done, two to go

You can never be locked out of yes mans side of the quests. He is made so that you can finish the game even if you get locked out of every other quest line. So yes you can kill kimbal with yes man, hell you can destroy the securitron vault with yes man and still play it out ony yes man gets very angry.
