First person view higher than model's head.

Hello everyone. My problem is as follows:

Everytime I enter 1st person camera, my actor's height suddenly increases and I end up looking at all NPCs as if they were a lot shorter and viewing things as if I was way taller than I am. Whenever I go to 3rd person camera it reverts back to my original height, which makes it troublesome because I can't play 1st person properly. If I sheath a weapon while on first person and attack or block, I won't see the animations, just hear them. I find this very unsual because I was playing fine today and when I played again tonight it suddenly had this problem. I haven't installed any new mods that could have possibly caused this. I tried disabling Deadly Reflexes v.6, which is perhaps the latest mods I installed besides a Fur armor HGEC conversion, and it wasn't the cause. Furthermore this has nothing to do with pose mods because I don't have any installed, and even if I try to reload previous saves (of several levels before) to test the problem, it happens again (which I obviously remember it wasn't at the time).

Has this happened before? Thanks for any help fixing this issue.

Deadly Reflex 6 alters first person animations so it would be the first place to look. You say you disabled the mod but that's not going to be enough. You have to actually remove the additional animation files that the mod installed. You could also delete, make a backup or rename, your Oblivion.ini and allow the game to create a new one upon launch. This will fix any errors if it's just a 'glitch' in the .ini.

I would like to note I have been using DR 6 since the day of release and have not encountered this issue. If it was in fact related to DR 6 you should report it in the proper thread, Deadly Reflex 6 Official Release and Bug Reports, at the BethSoft Forums. You could also read over it to see if others have reported similar issues.

Ok, I've read through the DR6 topic at BethSoft but apparently this isn't a problem caused by DR6 (makes sense, I got to play quite a while with it perfectly before this happened). I deleted my .ini file to no avail, it wasn't a bug with the .ini. I tried running Oblivion without OBSE to see if it was any of the plugins or mods that I have installed that require OBSE, but the problem persisted.

I found a similar problem (if not the same) while browsing the web that says as follows:

I' ve modded the game quite a bit, and I need to know what type of mods would do something like that. When I'm in 3rd person view the camera height is fine, but according to one of the debug pages in-game the WorldRoot CameraNode z axis jumps from 18 (where it should be) to 72, several feet above my character's head when I enter 1st person view from 3rd. I've tried running the game with no mods, and without OBSE on, but this still happens, so the error must be in a resource pack or resource override folder somewhere. I can think of three possible solutions, find the offending file/files that are causing the problem, design a mod myself that affects the camera height (WorldRoot CameraNode, maybe? A websearch turns up absolutely no way to modify that value, though, unfortunately, at least not in a language I speak.) or execute a console command that lowers it back to 18. So if anyone knows the command, or the offensive resource, please let me know! :)

I'm pretty sure I haven't installed any mods that could've changed the 1st height, or animations in any way between today's morning (which ran perfectly) and tonight, so it has to be something else. The only thing I've installed which appears on my recent files downloaded at tesnexus is a HGEC fur armor replacer, which I doubt it has anything to do.

You might have done something that caused Deadly Reflex 6 to bug like this anyway. Or I should say, the new animations and/or 1st person skeleton that was added by DR 6.

I once had the same problem with DR 5. It was not compatible with a 1st person mod I was using, and it would break the first person skeleton so I was always off to the side in that view. I was able to fix the problem by reinstalling just the 1st person skeleton files from that mod again, whenever that happened.

So it's possible that DR 6's new skeleton is being broken by another mod. It need not be a 1st person mod. It could be any mod that's dirty in some random way that conflicts with the new skeleton. Try reinstalling DR 6's new skeleton and animation files.

Hi

I've just had the same problem. I messed up the skeleton.nif installing another mod. To fix it, if you have the omod version of DR6, just deactivate the mod and then reactivate it (the entire mod, not only the .esp). It will reinstall the skeleton and everything should be back to normal. I've lost and hour trying to fix it: Change, launch oblivion, close oblivion, change, open oblivion, close oblivion... xD

Hope it helps ;)
