Genzel
Sorry if my questions have been answered elsewhere, but I would like to know how similar FO:NV modding is to Oblivion modding. about the same construction set? still .nif and .dds? Anything I need to know about collisions or normal maps? If I could get a quick answer or a link that would be great. Been playing the new fallout on 360 and just got it for PC. davidlallen
It is "about" the same. Same file formats, nif, dds, etc. Same script language. There are additional features and bug fixes in the NV geck compared to CS. You probably cannot directly port tes/esp files. But nif and dds should be directly reusable, and the script concepts are the same.
Genzel
Alright, thanks. Didn't want to open start it up and realize I have the wrong file formats and whatnot. EDIT: I forgot, one last thing, is there a seperate program to unpack FO: NV's BSA?Would one for FO3 or even Oblivion work? Genzel
Another question... Setting a new model is different from Oblivion. Instead of just picking the .nif and being done, I need to pick a .nif, and then a first person texture? The "first person model" is asking for a .dds, and the texture I pick uses a .nif model. I am really confused as to how the game model I choose does not affect the model of the item, but the "model" texture I pick determines the model. If I want to have a mesh to call on multiple textures, how would I choose them all, if there is only one slot to pick a texture? I'm not actually finding any place to even pick an actual .nif to choose what the equipped item will even look like.
