Creating a .mop file from a savegame

I've had a flick through the forum threads and can't readily see if this has been brought up already.

(I'm a forum virgin, so I'm also not sure if this is the right area to be asking this question - be gentle with me. ;) )

I've got a few heads of characters I'd like to upload as presets to the Nexus...but I don't know how to extract the information from a savegame to make a .mop file so others can check out my creations.

Any takers...?

Welcome, Synch!

Sorry to have to inform you that the response to your query is, "It can't be done." The saved-games do not contain the information for the .mop, only the .mor. :(

You can create your own .mop from scratch using the Toolset, but I know that's not quite what you were after.

Thanks for the reply, but...well, that sucks a little. :ermm:

So there's no way of getting the info of my character out of the game so I can post it for others to use if they choose, other than using toolset and hope I get it right (unless I actually post an actual savegame itself, that is)?

Well, you can use "DA FaceReplacer" (or any of the other utilities or techniques) to extract the ".mor" file, and then other players can use that to swap their PCs' faces to be yours instead. And, (if they know how) they can use the Toolset to edit the individual features of the .mor if they want.

But it won't be a preset (".mop") in the CC to which they can make on-the-fly changes before starting a new game.

I'm just posting to back Thandal up on this.

First off, greetings, and welcome to the forums :)

But yeah, unfortunately save games dont have the necessary information for creating a character creation face file :(

The best that you can do is to create a .mor file that can be used to add on to an existing character or an NPC.

To create a .mop (p for preset) file you have to create the face as a .mrh file in the dragon age toolset, and then extract the .mop file from that.

Sorry that we had to give you bad news on this one :(

But yeah, if you want to distribute your .mor files, the replacer that Thandal mentioned can make those for you. Just go to the main site dragonagenexus and click search. replacer in the subject line, and it should come up around the bottom of the page.

Edit- if you do choose to upload the files, Make sure to list any additional mods (such as hair mods, tattoo mods, etc) that are used in the face, and links to those mods, so that other users will know what mods they need to have, so the faces look right.

Thanks for the welcome. :)

Thanks for backing up Thandal and screwing me over. ;)

And...I guess it was just as well the face in question was made before I went nuts with hair, teeth and colour mods...
