Dual Wield

Hello to all those who might be reading this request. Before startingI would like to say that I have absoulutly NO knowledge in modding, scripting and in animations but will try my best to make it sound realistic.

So my request is simple (yet complicated), I (and I think everyone who plays New Vegas) would like to see dual wielding mod for Fallout New Vegas. Now most modders might think "yeah so do I" or "impossible" but I beg to differ. When it comes to dual wielding it is all about animations and scripting so these are some of the ideas I had that might help.

So first I was thinking instead of making animations and script of dual wielding it would be eaiser if a dual pistol item would be created (so basically two pistol apart from each other). Next for the holding action I saw a modder who made a 1 hand grip/ fire animation so I was thinking it would be similar to it, just make the left hand stick out too (so the second gun would not be gripped but float/ clip on the left hand). Lastly and most importantly for the firing action I was thinking about scripting the second gun to fire 1 or 2 second after firing the first gun. So by clicking right click the right gun fires (just like it would normally) and after 1 ~ 2 second the second gun automatically fires.

So thats all my ideas for now I really hoped it help and make some of you say "oh~ that might work!" or something similar. If it still didn't help well as I said before I have no knowledge in modding.

Well, I am knowledgable of the geck, learning to script, and might extend to animation after that. And by what I have seen, dual wielding IS possible, it's just not possible to make both weapons fire, and you have to completely overwrite one weapon type to be able to do it, so lets say you have single handed handguns? Well you'd have to replace them ALL and make them all dual wield. So it is possible, it's just not easy, and will not function to the extent most people want it to.

Could a new weapon type be made though? If so then it seems more feasible to implement select "new" weapons (that can borrow from existing textures) that behave as a single object in the game world and inventory, but have the animation for one in each hand.

 

If there's a need for incentive...

Dual Melee is easy, done the same way as brass knuckles, plus a little anim tweak so that second hand holds the other pin ni a reasonable place (but also doesn't look too bad with nothing in).

 

Dual firearms is not possible without murdering a whole load of other stuff you'd kinda like to work[.
