Hats Hanging on Shoulders?

Hi all. I've decided I want to help the community a little better than simply answering a few people's questions. Although there may be different solutions out there, this one worked for me.

There is a problem with creating new hats and helmets which makes the headgear hang off the side of the players head, as well as NPC's. After much work, there's nothing more annoying than having something go wrong after you've spent so long working on it.

Preparation:

1. Make sure you've finished your mod. Save it in the GECK, then close it down.

2. Make sure you have FNVEdit

Instructions:

First

Double click on FNVEdit. Once loaded you should see 2 boxes. One box will have a list of all the mods you've installed into your Data folder, including the mod you just made. Make sure there is only a tick in the boxes beside "FalloutNV.esm" and "YourHatMod.esp". When you have done that, click OK. On the right hand side of the large box you'll see lots of information suddenly appear.

Second

On the left of the large box is a list of the mods you chose. Now, click on the + next to your mod, the do the same next to "Armor". You should now be presented with a list of your hats/helmets along with their FormID. Click on it.

Third

On the right hand side of the large box, you'll see lots of information about your hat/helmet. Scroll down until you find the "Male biped model" section. At the bottom of that section will be a greyed out line called "MODD - FaceGen Model Flags". Next to that will be an empty cell. Right click in that empty cell and click "Add". You'll then be given a warning. Click on "Yes, I'm absolutely sure". The line will no longer be greyed out. Now, right click on the empty cell again and click "Edit".

A small box titled "Edit Values" will appear with lots of zeros "0" in it. Delete all of the "0" and type "1" then click OK. The empty cell will now be called "Head".

NOTE: If you have a female biped version, make sure to do the same process for the female biped version.

Now, press Ctrl + S to bring up the save menu. Your mod should be the only one in the box. Make sure it has a tick next to the mod's name, then click on OK. Now close FNVEdit.

We are done! Go check out your headgear in-game.

If anyone has any other suggestions on how to fix the headgear issue, please share.
