Smooth613
Since I see many threads, on various forums, about how Anti-Aliasing is causing issues when using Oblivion Graphics Extender, or people complaining that they have to disable Anti-Aliasing in order to use OBGE. Well there are solutions to using AA and OBGE at the same time of course. One is forcing AA via your GPU's drivers. Which for some seems to not work or maybe it's just too stressful and causes performance issues. The other solution, which has virtually no performance hit at all, is to enable the NormalFilterAA.fx Shader via OBGE. I've been using it since it came out and absolutely love it and prefer it over forcing AA via ATI - Tray Tools or CCC. With a heavily modded game squeaking out every extra FPS I can is very important. Disabling AA is one of the ways I can gain a few FPS. And with the NFAA Shader I don't have to sacrifice any visuals to do so. I just wanted to bring this to light since many are probably not aware or have simply never tried this filter due to whatever reason. However I encourage folks to use this as an alternative, and it's a very acceptable one at that. There's really not much more to say about this and I'll let the screenshots do the talking. It's only a handful of shots but they display the effect really well. I'd just like to mention for folks to specifically look at the Mages Guild sign and pole it's hung from and then the roofs of the surrounding buildings. The only time you can really notice any jaggies is off in the distance at the Chapel. Even then it's very minor and hardly noticeable in game when you're not just out looking for imperfections. Be sure to click on the images to see the full size. I had to reduce the images by 2% to get them under 5MB so ImageShack would accept them. Other than that they are untouched. And if anything reducing the size results in loss of quality and the originals would offer even better results. However comparing the original to the 2% reduced side by side offers no discernible difference. Original resolution is 1680 x 1050. It's truly an excellent visual aid to help make Oblivion that much aesthetically pleasing.
