Morgwynn Posted April 14, 2015 Share Posted April 14, 2015 (edited) So I know this is kind of a prison weapon along with shiv's and shanks but it is cheap and easy to construct as long as you don't have too many holes in yours socks. devinpatterson Posted April 15, 2015 Share Posted April 15, 2015 Would it break immersion if it didn't have any of the physics of a sock? The reason I ask is that you can put any mesh in a melee weapon, for instance I did a plunger, a guitar and probably a lot of other cr*p I'v forgotten for various requests. But I have no idea how to simulate the physics of something like a object in a sock. The best I could do is set it up so that it's hanging down when drawn and hope it doesn't look to horrible when it's swung :pinch: But there might be additional complications with that too, as it needs to hang down from teh players hand, but also from the hip when equipped and not drawn.......and those two axis aren't necessarily the same. Although I could rig a dummy armor addon that not only hangs down but has some movement with teh character's body (to swing back and forth). However I haven't found a good way to knock out (make invisible) the orginal weapon mesh (although I do have some ideas on that). Anyway if no one more experienced has a suggestion and your not in a hurry (have a few requests to do) I can look into that for you.....if your OK with the limitations mentioned above. And your way of doing it sounds good I didn't think there would animations for such a request so a rigid version is cool, heck it's easy enough to assume it's a mini rebar club with a sock over it to look less threatening. Lol I just thought of something funny. A raider/fiend getting beaned with a sock puppet version of the weapon. The KFs will be the same, but in theory if this were done professionally (as opposed to a hack job as I'm proposing), I think it would have to be the niTransformContoller of a new nif that would cause it to distort (the animation for non rigged). That way when you swung it, it could "stretch out". But that's above my pay grade. Lol I just thought of something funny. A raider/fiend getting beaned with a sock puppet version of the weapon. Yeah I like that idea :smile: Wasn't there a "puppet vault" as well?
