bryman1970
I've just joined the Fighters Guild in Anvil. I've started the first quest and taken care of the rat killer (I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't done this yet). The woman who owns the house (and the rats) sent me to Pinarus Inventius (can't remember the spelling of his first name). He suggested I join him and find more of the rat killers, but he won't follow me. He just stays there in his house. The journal says i'm supposedly joining him in the hunt. Is this a bug or have I missed something?
WastelandAssassin
he's not supposed to follow youyou are supposed to follow him (and he walks rather slowly, so it will take some time to finish this quest)just give him a short while to move out of his house, and follow him where he goes
bryman1970
Ok. He didn't move at all, or even start towards the door. When I left the house and went back in, he was sitting at the table upstairs. Does it take him a bit to actually begin to leave?
WastelandAssassin
well, i haven't played Oblivion in a while, so i don't remember the little details, but i think he should leave right after talking to you if you have made a save before talking to him, try loading it, and talking to him againalso, what time is it (in the game) when you are talking to him??i doubt that this is an AI problem, but he may not start the quest AI package for you, for some reason
bryman1970
In game time is about 10:30 am. I do have saves before I talked to him. I could always go back. Hopefully that will fix the problem.
WastelandAssassin
well, i have played the game plenty of times, and i don't think i have ever had such a problem try loading a save before talking to him, talk to him, and then stay in his house until he leavesas far as i recall, his new AI package should start just after talking to him, but it might take a while (probably a few minutes at worst)so see if after just waiting there (but not actually waiting, like passing the hours) would do the trick
bryman1970
Ok, I tried it again, using a saved game before I signed up with the Fighters Guild. After Pinarus said 'Let's go hunting', he followed me down the stairs. I thought it was working, but as I started walking toward the front door, he turned around, went back upstairs, sat down near the fireplace and started eating. I wonder if I can just go hunting by myself and take care of the problem, or if he has to be with me for the quest to work. I'll try waiting for a few minutes and see what he does. Some hunter he is. WastelandAssassin
you need him to go with you, as far as i know from what this sounds like, it seems to be an AI problemdo you have any mods that might change his AI??any mod that changes him at all?? bryman1970
I decided to go out exploring the coast for myself and give him some time to do whatever he was doing. When I got back to his house, he had his shield ready and out he went. Seems it just took him a bit to get prepared. I finished the quest with no problems. Thanks for the advice.
