WastelandAssassin
ok then :) you need the GECK for this (obviously)so once you have installed the GECK, open it, and click on File -> Data (look at the top left)now, i would assume that you want to change the vanille weapons (the weapons in the original game)in this case, only load the main FalloutNV.esmlet the GECK load (it may look like it's frozen, but it just takes some time, so don't quit it) now, to make this easier for you, i would suggest you make a list of all the weapons you want to change, and how (increase or decrease damage, or whatever else you would like to change)look at the Object Window (the large window on the left)in the list in the side, click Items -> Weapon -> weaponsyou should see a list of all the weapon typesclick on the type of weapon that you want to edit (for instance, if you want to edit the 9mm pistol, click 1HandPistol)now, you should see a list of all the weapons in the category you chosescan this list (best to look at the name column, and look for the name of the weapon you want to edit)when you have found the weapon that you want to edit, right click on it, and choose Edit in the new window that is opened, you will have all the options for editing the weapon that you choseif you only want to lower the damage, look at the Game Data tab (the one that is automatically opened)the second value on the right should be Damagejust lower it to whatever value that suits youif you want to configure it well, look at the DPS Info tab after making the change, to see what you'll get in the game (this should help you decide when the change is what you really want) after you are finished with this, click OK, then File -> Save and give the plugin whatever name you want now, if you want to edit this plugin (like you want to change another weapon) just activate it when you open the GECK, and make it the active file (just mark it, and click the Set as Active File button) for a list of the values you can see in the weapons' screen (if you want to make more changes) you can look herethis should have most (if not all) of the values, with explanations on what they do i really hope that this is helpfuland if you have any question whatsoever, you are more then welcome to aski will do my best to answer
secksegai
Anybody know if there is a mod for this yet? A lot of the weapons are waaay overpowered. I'd have to disagree - if anything the problem is that the sniper rifle is more versatile and deadly than everything else in the arsenal. Unless you've got other mods affecting DR/DT, it doesn't take long to see differences between weapons. Trying to kill a giant radscorpion with a 9mm pistol or varmint rifle should make it blatantly obvious. There are quite a few mods that can affect damage dealt/taken. I'd strongly recommend you take a look at some if you're not already familiar with the Geck. All one has to do is browse the gameplay section of files. MacMallian
After a bit of poking around with Geck I quickly figured out how to nerf/buff weapons. Sure, that XM8 looks sexy, but I don't like two shot killing a deathclaw with a fully automatic Assault Rifle, and my trusty AA-12 is just a free win. A couple of magazine capacity, DPS, and DAM nerfs later, I have some fun and well rounded weapons. Doing what Wasteland Assassin wrote out is a must.
