Mods Don't Work...

I suspect it has something to do with the install location...

I created a mod, enabled it on the Oblivion Launcher, went to the location where the mod takes effect and everything was still the same.

All the mod does is removes a few objects from the Market District.

Any help?

So you don't have a mymod.esp in your data folder that actually enables the modified content to load? Sorry your comment about everything being the same is a little confusing, because from what I gather your saying is that there isn't a mymod.esp in your launcher/data files directory for activating mods. If that is the case when your using the CS to modify content you have to load up the oblivion.esm file upon altering said objects save it as mymod.esp-example otherwise it won't do anything least from my experiences only altering the esm and trying to save over it, it doesn't do anything when I have tried doing that in the past. "This is more of a question to his question so don't take it as advice, sorry."

Do mods that you didn't create work?

What Operating System? XP? Vista? Win7? Other?

Where is the game installed?

What version do you have? DVD? Steam? D2D? Other?

Which version of the construction set are you using?

C:\Users\(My name)\Saved Games should be where your saves are stored.

The actual game is (by default on Win7) installed to : C:\program files(x86)\Bethesda Softworks\Oblivion.

The default location causes problems with Windows UAC when you work with mods.

It is best to install outside of the protected folders and in a different place - such as

C:\Games\Oblivion. That way there is no attempt by the UAC to block anything - like the construction set.

Moving the game will not work - as a part of the install places entries in the Windows registry which will not be changed by moving. Just using the uninstall on the disk does not remove those entries either. The reinstall will just create a new set of entries pointing to the new location, and leave the original ones there and they can come back and byte you later.

Best is to completely remove and reinstall. Here is a link to my complete uninstall/reinstall procedure located in the articles section of the Nexus. This does remove the registry entries completely before reinstalling.

It allows you to preserve any saves and mods, or remove them completely - your choice.

I got them to work! :)

Reinstalled it (for the 3rd time) into the default folder.

Turned off User Account Control - I know it's not safe but it will have to do.

I installed the latest Oblivion patch - This could be what fixed it.

Then I right clicked the Construction Set inside the Oblivion folder and clicked Properties, clicked the Compatibility tab, clicked "Run this program as an Administrator". - This could also be what fixed it.

I posted this here for future reference, just in case anybody ever needs to use this method. :D
