Thanks for expanding I knew someone would be able to explain it without using words like 'thingies'

When you say 'unlock' do you have to actually travel to that area to unlock it and set the enemy level, then leave or is it considered unlocked when it appears on your map eg. after speaking to Levi and he marks your map?

As stated, "unlocked" means, "when you get the 'This Named Area is unlocked ' message on-screen." I thought it was clear that "THIS NAMED AREA" would be replaced in the actual message by the NAME of the area that is now, well... unlocked.

  you will get plenty of those before you finish the game, you would laugh at some of the stupid things I missed on my first few playthoughs, at least you found the camp without any help.

Seeeee I've been playing for so long, I don't even see that any more  I'll try and watch for it this time around.

Well, Return to Ostigar is finished, collected everything I was supposed to. Wielding Maric's Blade with a Grandmaster Lightning Rune (+5 lightning damage) and a rune that grants me a +15 to physical resistance in it. Not able to use Duncan's weapon set yet. It was fun and took quite a bit of strategic moves going it without casters. Got Sten to a 19 constitution so that was a big gain to me. With two dlc's down I'm thinking I'll hit the Circle of Mages next to set up the main quest.

Well as of midnight my Dual-Wielder entered The Fade wish me luck :) This is going to be a long and interesting chapter. Obviously I picked up Wynne and she has been a big help but this part is solo for me (or any player that gets here). Thanks for humoring me ladies and gents just felt I would share a bit of my progress.

Mages Circle secured, horsing around in Redcliffe, got sten's sword Asala back. On that note Sten is a very difficult individual to get and keep a good approval rating from. He is however much tougher now.

Got Zevran and may start subbing him for Lilliana given her lack of ability to detect and remove traps. (she can find them but she cannot remove/disarm them) Will see what happens.

I'm lost on where the set up for The Stone Prisoner is. I went to the Frostback Mountains thinking it was there ended up squashing a group of bounty hunters but found nothing on the golem.

I'm having a problem with casting spells, granted my character is a warrior but during the fade I was not able to get area effect spells to go off. Trying to get Wynne or Morrigan to throw an AOE spell seems to only be useful if I set it in their tactics. Manual casting has not worked for me yet.

As far as my character goes I have managed to finally get into the Warden Commander's Armor and wield Maric's Blade (2 rune slots: GM lightning and rune that grants +15 to physical resistance) and Duncan's Dagger (2 rune slots: GM: Frost and another rune that grants +15 to physical resistance) needless to say I make a bit of a mess in combat and seem to resist fireball knock down effects far better than anybody else so far.

Yeah, Sten is... different!

Regarding casting, it's a multi-step process

For AoE ones:

1. Select character to cast. (Left-click on character/portrait)

2. Select spell to cast. (Left-click on quickbar slot, or open Spells and double-click on the desired one)

3. Designate target AREA (Left click on center of area. AoE is identified by a white circular pattern, which turns brighter if the target area is within range of the caster's current position.)

The caster then starts the casting animation, and (if markers are enabled) the purple "I'm busy" progress bar appears. Many AoE spells take QUITE a while to cast, so protect your mage while s/he's doing so.

Redcliffe is pretty much finished off managed to keep everybody alive (Isolde and the Kid.) through the use of the Circle Mages. Wynne went into the fade and did the dirty work there. I've worked in a few more combat spells for her.

While he does seem to be a better fighter you would think Zevran as an assasin would have better skills at opening locks and dealing with traps. May go back to Lil for a bit.

@ Thandal -- Thanks for the information on casting, got quite a bit of practice with Wynne in the fade.
