Black brackets for DUI HUD

I've searched high and low and can't figure out how people get their brackets black in the HUD on screen. I've seen several screen shots with people having black brackets. I thought it could be adjusted in the DUI config. file, but I don't see where. I found one mod that makes them black, but the compass doesn't work right with Darn, and there were a few other things I didn't like about it. Plus that's not the same as what I'm seeing in the screen shots I've found on Nexus. If anyone can tell me how this is achieved, I'd appreciate it. This has become an itch that I can't scratch and it's driving me nuts.

 

Check out the Solace mod and look at the screen shot of the mod. You will notice the black brackets in the HUD display. If this can be done in the DUI config. can you please tell me how.

there shows default and colors...AKA additional links. follow the instructions.

In-game settings require FOSE to work. a10 needs FOSE 1.1 b5. These can be accessed from the Pause Menu by clicking the "DUI F3" button.

NOTE: Depends on your tastes as to what and color you choose to use, what formats.

as an example. Here, I wanted thick visible large bars but a color more vibrant for the testing stages, I could see things better in a bright room where I work, verses home where is darker, so home unit has what you see on solace, the xml file is the control file.

I know how to go into the DUI file and change colors. Now take you hud color that you have there and just change the bracket color to black leaving everything else the same...that's what I want to do. I'm going to look at your other post...see if that helps.

Ok, yeah...I'm familiar with the darn page and editing the config file. I just can't figure out how to change the brackets to black and not change the entire hud color. If there's a way to keep my hud color whatever and just change the bracket color I can't seem to see it in the confiig for DUI. I'm thinking maybe something like this is achieved in another xml file, perhaps.

menu folder, where a lot of types of *.xml files are stored, the hud main menu is what you want.

man, you're a very helpful person. I appreciate it. I think the best one is for me to play around with the hud xml file for a while....that's the only thing that deals more directly with the hud brackets than anything else. All the other stuff is for the entire hud color. I'm almost thinking it can't be done. I'm also thinking that the screen shots I've seen of this are some long ago, but now forgotten HUD mod, that got taken down and everyone has forgotten about. A good example of the hud look I'm talking about is on the paradox mod page. Go there and scroll down to the super mutant on fire. Look at the HUD brackets....they are black. He's using DUI too. You can tell. Anyway...thanks again. I'll let you know if I find anything out.

ask Tommy if he'll share his hud ? I mean he may have done that himself...and you will never know unless you ask directly, he's a good Joe...ask.

EDIT: you know what, I think he used his graphics card's overlay software to cause that , some cards come with gaming software..so that may also be how some Hud mods appear.."unattainable", and in the past, he has at times posted such things too, images showing the game cards software.

 

my self, I dabbled in it a bit but I mostly run with out any hud at all...you have to live in the moment..but's that's me.
