Can anyone tell me why this nif crashes me

Recommended Posts

Ok b4 i pop off to pass the F out, it has something to do with the sarcophagus doors, I deleted both pieces, frame and door on all 4 sides and 0 issues all around

I can easily do it without the doors. In case anyone wonders its my dropship, slams down into a disabled static version of itself with no doors, causes clutter and rocks, disabled version enables, enable doors, enable my elites who are behind said doors, pop them all off BAM, it's like f*#@ing movie magic

It looks like its kind of a dirty file and its missing a collision mesh, not that one is needed mind you. What are you using to edit/make your meshes?

Edit:

I went ahead and loaded the mesh into MAX, and converted it to a editable-poly, and then back to editable-mesh. This has the effect of cleaning the mesh of various leftover bits in the nif file and then re-exported it as a new nif file. I then went into nifscope and had to edit each entry for the textures because on my system MAX always, no matter what messes up the paths, always adds data to the string breaking the texture path. After that I went through and reset all the entries for environmental mapping on the bronze pieces. I removed the engine glow effect and had to re-import them from your original mesh. Also in your mesh the vertex lighting setting was turned off on the curved dwemer pipes so I re-enabled them. I then loaded it into chunk-merge and created a collision for the mesh. I them opened CreationKit and loaded your mesh to be right outside Whiterun, mainly because my PC is right there for testing other things, and saved it. I then made sure it was activated and loaded Skyrim. Your mesh is there and is not crashing the game at all. Although the collision is not working for some reason. I can walk right through the bottom portion of the mesh. I have never had this issue with chunk-merge before so I don't have an answer there. The internal partitioning of the nif is totally different than what yours was. If you want the version I made let me know and I will set it up for you on Dropbox so you can get ahold of it and test it out. I will setup two versions of the file, one with the collision and without so that you can do that yourself if you want to, as it seems not to work for me, maybe it will work for you.

Err I dont need collision and jesus man, that was a lot of work rofl, I'll take it!

Like it's working now w/o the doors and I basically just moved everything around in nifscope itself to make it from various nifs, which is probably terrible, never thought of converting in max and exporting, will try to remember that one for the future

Hey no problem. It didn't take as long as it sounds and I needed a refresher anyway. Here is a link to the file.

Hope it works for you. Its a rather interesting mesh, I am curious as to what you have planned for it. If its something your going to release or its part of a bigger mod. If you don't want to say that's OK. I can totally understand secrecy.
