Deleted22145179User
Hello. I'm having a problem with getting this mod to work: http://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/664/? I downloaded the .zip file into my downloads folder, and then dragged it into DAModder. The DAModder said it was installed successfully, but then when I went into my game and checked the Downloadable Content list, the mod won't show up there, and when I load my latest save, I don't have the dog whistle in my inventory and I don't have the extra slot. Not really sure what to do; any help would be really appreciated!
MagdalenaDwojniak
Hello, Octopoda. I installed this mod too, but I simply unpacked it into my Override folder. Everything worked from the start. Maybe you could give us more information? Like your platform, where you bought the game, other mods installed. In the meantime, I'll pop into my game and check if the extra slot shows as installed. EDIT: Yes, it shows. I have version 1.41, what about you? The whistle should be under "Other" in your inventory. Deleted22145179User
Sorry! First time modding anything so I wasn't sure what information to include. I'm using Windows 8.1 and bought the Ultimate Edition directly from the Origin client. I also installed the ZDF Dialog Fix mod. That one just said to extract the files into the override folder, which I did, and the files are sitting there but I haven't run into any of the places in game that are supposedly fixed with that mod to see if that mod is working either. So for all I know, that doesn't work either but that's beside the point, heh. I would guess that they aren't, since I also see the extra dog slot folder/files in my override folder but apparently those aren't working either. And... forgive me, but I'm not quite sure how to check version number. I would assume if I downloaded it from Origin that it would automatically update it to latest version?? Not sure. Googling it says you can check by launching it from start menu/desktop shortcut, but if I do that, it just opens origin and then launches the game. Thandal
Dog won't be available to you as a (regular, or "extra") party member unless/until you recruit him. Did you do that? Separate from any issues with EDS, and for reasons that defy any reasonable explanation, the last time I checked the EA/Origin install of DAO did NOT include the 1.05 patch. While it is true that the 1.05 patch was basically just some minor fixes for certain DLC authorization issues (which wouldn't be necessary at all for the Ultimate Edition) and for a graphics problem with (the very small number of) DX-10.1 cards, it *is* the very last patch and it should be the one people get these days when they do a fresh install. Since it isn't (or at least, it wasn't) here's the link to it on the (old) BioWare Social Network (BSN): DAO Patches. I installed DAO:UE via Origin recently (if December of last year qualifies as 'recent') and it was patched to 1.05. @Octopoda - YOu can check your game version by running the DAOriginsConfig utility, located in the bin_ship folder of the game install location... it's under the 'Game' tab. MagdalenaDwojniak
No problem at all, Octopoda, I'm fairly new to modding DAO as well :). I was asking about the version of the mod. The date of upload is visible. You can check the game's version when you go to Origin, right-click and choose "Properties". At least that's how it works for me, I only have the basic game and some DLCs. I'd suggest this: compare your Override with the zip the mod was packed into, then remove the files, turn your computer off so that temporary data is removed. Launch it again, then unpack the zip manually into your Override, making sure the directory is correct. Start the game and see if anything shows up under Downloadable Content. Ah, you may have to be logged in. Afterwards please tell us if anything changed. My Shartan (I mean the doggie) didn't show up in the fifth slot until Leliana offered to join; I picked her, Alistair and Morrigan from the party picker, then the whistle appeared and I was able to use it. From now on, Shartan keeps following, looking for places to mark his dominance... and then tumble in it.
Thandal
@tsm; That's good to know. Last summer EA/Origin was still serving 1.04.
MagdalenaDwojniak
Yes, Thandal - I think Origin comes patched now (at least on my PC, I didn't have to patch it, it runs 1.05 by default). Another thing struck me: is the console enabled? It shouldn't be necessary, but n my configuration, I had it enabled through the *.ini - maybe it is a factor too. Deleted22145179User
@Thandal -- Yep, I've recruited dog already. I actually first got the game back when Origin gave out the base game through their On the House program and finished it. A month ago I bought the Ultimate Edition, uninstalled the base game and reinstalled the UE, and I've just finished Lothering and recruited Shale/did the Warden's Keep DLC on a new playthrough. So yep, definitely have Dog! Also @theskymoves -- Thanks! Just checked and I do have version 1.05 of the game. @MagdalenaDwojniak -- Woops! I have version 1.41 of the mod too, and nope, I don't have the console enabled. And thanks for the suggestion! Just tried it, and unfortunately, no luck. I extracted the files using WinRAR, if that's of any assistance with trying to figure this out?
Thandal
... I extracted the files using WinRAR, if that's of any assistance with trying to figure this out? Wait. What?!? This mod is packaged and downloaded as a single ".dazip". As with all .dazip mods, don't use WinRAR (or any other file compression/decompression utility) on it at all. Leave the files together in the archive and let DAUpdater extract them and place them in the various sub-folders where they belong in-game. Or you can use NMM, or DAMM, if you like. (And I don't use DAM so I can't say if it handles .dazip files, but I presume so.)
