MagdalenaDwojniak
Oops, I was talking about a different file, forget it, Octopoda. You should have a single .dazip file. Use DAO Updater (in your game's installation directory, probably under Ship Bin) and let it place it on its own. That's what I did at least. Deleted22145179User
Well, here might be the problem then! I did a manual download from the page linked in the OP, and in my downloads folder it's not a .dazip file but rather a .zip file. So I figured, well, I can use WinRAR since WinRAR deals with .rar and .zip files. Am I doing something wrong if it's supposed to be a .dazip file? MagdalenaDwojniak
It is supposed to be a .dazip file, a special format native to DAO. You will need DAO Updater (from Ship Bin, it is created when you install the game) or a fan-made installer called DA-Modder. Download the file from the mod's download page dated 15 II 2010. It is a .dazip, maybe your system tried to change it into a .zip? When you are the administrator (when access permissions of your system are concerned), you can change the format by changing the placement of the dot in your file's name. It could be an issue. I have administrator's rights on my W7. When I change the format of the mod's copy, it is still accessible, listing Content as the primary folder and a Manifest file. It could be misleading. You need the .dazip to be able to install it via DAO Updater or DA-Modder (I suggest DA-Modder, because it lets you view all installed mods, at least as far as .dazip files are concerned). The screenshot shows how it ought to look like upon successful install. Edited April 19, 2015 by MagdalenaDwojniak
Deleted22145179User
Aha!! It worked! Thank you so much!! Seems that it was just down to trying to install it as a .zip instead of the correct .dazip file type. Thanks, all of you, for helping me through this! A semi-related question, if I may: do all 3rd-party mods show up in the Downloaded Content in game, regardless of if you used the DA Modder or just manually extracted the files? Asking since the other mod I tried to install didn't show any sign of successfully being in the game either, but that was a .rar file type (ZDF Dialog Fix mod). I'm very glad it worked for you :D! As for your question,I'm not sure, but I think most things do show, even if they are not official. DA-Modder cannot install .rar files as far as I know. You COULD repack it into a .zip, preserving the file structure, of course. Or just install it manually. You can then try to see if DA-Modder shows it. PS Do I assume correctly you like Zev? You may be interested in "Ferelden Elves" mod then (with the additional morph for him, I installed it and I can't properly express my admiration for the change). Only DAzip mods will appear in the Downloaded Content list; anything that installs into the override (whether manually or as a DAO-ModManager .override package) will not. Talach
Hello, I'm having a similar problem to the OP. I downloaded the Extra Slot for the Dog mod using manual download. Then I dragged and dropped the file into my DAModder. The program said it was installed, but it is not in Downloadable content. But I have similar problems with all the mods in my DAModder. I downloaded the DAModder following the steps on this video and unpacked it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dragon Age Origins folder. Then I downloaded the Extra slot for Dog mod and dragged the whole .zip file to the DAModder. Worked fine. Mod is shown as installed, but doesn't appear in the Downloadable content. Also, is it normal that when I look into the extracted folder of the Extra Solt for Dog mod, as well as several other mod, I see a Manifest.xml files, and others folders with .erf files at the end of a long chains of folders, but no .dazip? All my working mods from third party with .dazip work perfectly so far (Necromancer speclialization, Soul Reaper Scythe) but every other like the Extra Dog slot with these .xml and .erf files don't appear in Downloadable content even if installed on the DAModder. Thank you in advance if you can help!
Talach
Finally found it! I simply had to rename the mod compressed folder as .dazip to include it in the Mod Manager. Google Chrome was renaming them simply as .zip files. Everything works fine now!
MagdalenaDwojniak
I guess you can change options in Chrome so that it does not try to be smarter than it is. If it changes the format, then I would be wary of it. Changing the extension manually is not always safe, so I would suggest using FireFox, at least for modding. Glad to hear changing the extension worked, but you could save yourself the hassle in the future.
Deleted22145179User
Thanks MagdalenaDwojniak and theskymoves! And thanks for the suggestion about the Ferelden Elves mod -- I am indeed a Zevran fan, hehe, so I'll have to look into it.
