Xouthpaw
I'm trying to change the terrain's texture by using the 'landscape editing settings' in the GECK.The problem is that when I select the texture I want to use and right-click to use it I can only'paint' specific squares of the landscape in that texture. It doesn't let me freely use the tool. So, what am I doing wrong? Thanks.
Ez0n3
With the Landscape Editor open ("H"), hit "I" to see which textures are in use by which quad. Hit "B" to see the big squares border. Each exterior cell is made up of 4 quads (4 small squares per big square). Each quad has a limit of 7 textures. If there aren't any free slots open, you have to right click and delete a texture (from the quads list "I", not the main ones in "H") before you can paint on another. You may run into some problems though by deleting vanilla textures from the landscape. Edited December 18, 2010 by Ez0n3
davidlallen
A little more information under this thread. @ Ez0n3, thanks for your patience in repeating this information. I have started thinking about topics for an "intermediate modder's how to", and anytime an answer is repeated it becomes a candidate. If there is such a guide, I haven't found it.
