GhostH
Ok first off I love FNV, and I have really been getting into using the reloading bench.I seem to have a fairly hard time finding enough rifle powder to keep my 308 hollow points up, so I end up breaking down a lot of ammo. Well I'm up to level 15, and sitting on 500 rounds of .308 hollow point hand loaded ammo (which rocks) but I have a garbage can absolutely full of brass. 9mm, 10mm, 357, 44mag, 5mm, 5.56 mm, shotgun hulls, you name it I have thousands of empty cases that I will never fill. What I am looking for is ideally a simple mod/tool that I could buy that would let me "shred" those cases back down to basic brass. That brass could then be used with the reloading bench to make new cases in calibers that I can use or sell. Anyone interested? Can't afford to sell the farm or give you my house, at my age chances of getting a first born son are non existent. However if you could pull this off I would tell the world that you are the best Mod Maker EVER. :) FYI I am using the "Better Ammo crafting" mod that lets me breakdown scrap into brass, then use that brass to make cases or primers. kartman314
Really interesting idea, although I'm not sure if you could sell them since all cases have no value unless you buy a box of them from a merchant. Anyways, if I were you I'd start by asking the author of "Better Ammo crafting" if he could extend or update his mod to offer case "shreding" since it allready allows scrap metal to be turned into brass then cases. Tonlee01
I too love the idea Ghost, have you gotten any word of this from anyone? I am currently using "Complete Ammo Crafting" and haven't been able to find its maker but I love it, other then having thousands of casings sitting around that won't be filled. Rossum
Or perhaps have a merchant somewhere who will accept empty casings and exchange them for other empty casings. Actually, empty bullet casings should be the default currency of the wasteland come to think of it. I'm pretty sure that bullet casings are harder to craft than bottle caps (or "forge" if we're talking about currency) but can potentially be reloaded and don't carry the risks of using actual bullets as currency (i.e. if two people in a post apocolyptic world are using actual bullets as money than one might be tempted to just use his bullets to kill the other one. If they are using empty bullet casings then that danger is minimized). So, the economy could be something like: Bullet casings are all over the place due to hunting and fights, guys collect casings and bring them to the Gun Runners, Gun Runners give them food and stuff in exchange for casings, Gun Runners make ammo and sell those to others in exchange for food and materials and stuff. Since there is a high demand for bullets then the Gun Runners have a demand for casings so all the prospectors and drifters know they can rely on the Gun Runners to give them stuff for empty casings. This results in empty casings being a reliable currency since people can trade them to send them to the Gun Runners while hunters and such move the finished bullets all over the place. But anyway... Maybe change it so that empty bullet casings and bullets themselves have a set value (lower than that of the finished bullet) but it is not subject to the Barter skill. An empty 10mm case is always worth the same amount regardless of anyones Barter skill. So you can exchange all your empty 10mm casings for food or other bullets even if you don't bother with Barter. Yeah, if all bullets and bullet casings had values that were not affected by the Barter skill then they effectively act like currency. That way you can reliably exchange them with each other at pretty much any merchant. Reloading those casings at a reloading bench basically lets you add value to your 'currency' which can be expended either in trade or by shooting stuff. If what I said above makes little sense, its because I just read this page about post-apocalyptic currency.
Floatsup
I use a few mods for ammo, Im not sure which one does what talking about, but it does.It requires the use of flamer fuel. These are some mods you may want to check out.One of em does exactly what your asking for though, and then some. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35321 http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=37412 This is also a good one. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=34940 And this is nice too. This is more realistic to me. http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=36403 I use all those mods, and some others but those are good for crafting shells. If you like to do that kind of thing. I have some custom stuff, but thats just my own creation. Would like to build a black powder gun at some point but I have a project that sucks all my time up, and a support mod to finish for it, so I'm screwed. K cheers. Tonlee01
I tried the Better Ammo Crafting and I did like everything but the flamer fuel usage. Currently trying Ria Ammo Crafting and Craft Overhaul. I like the weapon mods from both ( CO seems to have more of them though) but trying to combine the two types on one weapon does crash my computer. I do run into a crafting problem also. Both have a breakdown from scrap metal to brass (Ria's gives lead, tungsten, and steel too), however the brass is broken into 2 different stacks, one type for the crafting of vanilla ammo and one for Rias. I guess what I am trying to get is a mod that...Gives a good amount of specialty ammo types, allows the breaking down of cases (preferably without the use of hard to find flamer fuel- Ria's lets you construct a crucible to breakdown casings), allows the breaking down of surplus ammo (I have a mod that does this but most ammo mods that allow it set the repair skill check to 70+) and finally has a decent amount of crafting recipes for items such as weapon mods, armor, kits, chems, ect. Without the annoying crashing and crossover recipe conflicts. Anyone know of such a mod or mods that work together as such without conflicts? Thanks,Tonlee
