DeadStage
So I got a few new mods and noticed very quickly as I started a new game that the voices of all the characters wouldn't work. Apart from the subtitles which went by way too fast. The only voices that still work are the male Argonian and Orcs. There could be a few others that work but I haven't checked all of them yet. So any idea's guys? Edited December 18, 2010 by DeadStage
Osteoporozis
I'm no expert, but it sounds like one of the mods you installed replaced/redirected some of the files in the voices .bsa. Either that or the voices .bsa was somehow deleted.A list of the mods you installed would be infinitely helpful; also check to make sure both of the .bsa's for voices are there. I'm thinking what caused it may have been Blackies CM partners mod basic. Since it adds a few npc's with their own voices. The rest of the mods I got were mostly weapons and armour. Osteoporozis
Try disabling all the mods you recently installed (starting with the ones you suspect of course) one at a time; if that doesn't work, do it again but remove the files from your data folder as well (you might just start off doing that, depending on how many you have). If push comes to shove, back up your Oblivion folder and reinstall, then take out the fresh voices .bsa's. Splice your old data folder into the clean one and then put the new voice .bsa's in. See a doctor if symptoms persist. If any of this fixes it I suggest you rage at the authors of the mod that caused the problem and ask how the mod caused it, minus the rage part. This is how I would do it, at least. Good luck. Edited December 19, 2010 by Osteoporozis
DeadStage
Right. After a while of moving and deleting files I decided to reinstall Oblivion. But now a new problem has appeared. When I started Oblivion up after the reinstall I noticed I could still load my saved games from the previous one. And I couldn't start a new game. I'd click "New" then "Yes" and it would revert back to the menu as if I had clicked "No" After a while I found another Oblivion folder in "My games" and deleted it. That solved the saved games from a different install problem but the new game problem still exists. Any more suggesting? I've searched around the internet and found it is quite a common problem but a pain to fix. Alas none of the solutions made sense to me, or there wasn't any at all. All this stuff about a registry? Can someone point me to where and what to do with that? I've been up all night (Currently 5am) trying to work this all out. Some help would be greatly appreciated. Osteoporozis
I like your persistence... Anyway, I believe the new game problem has something to do with the Oblivion esm. Make sure it's enabled in your data files. I had this problem once before, very briefly, and messing with some mods a bit fixed it.The other Oblivion folder (which is by default in documents/my games) has the .ini and your saves. I think it's regenerated if it's not there, so deleting it isn't a problem unless you had some mods that had files in it.As for wiping all traces of Oblivion from even your registry, I use a handy program called Revo Uninstaller. I still have a free version from two years ago, give or take, which seems to now be unavailable. But there appears to be a limited trial at the following link.http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uninstaller_free_download.html

Re-installing as I type. Going to test it without any mods or any updates. Just going to try it vanilla. Will update this post on the results. Update: Right.. So I've used Revo Uninstaller, deleted all traces that Oblivion existed on my computer, reinstalled, change the properties on oblivion.exe to run in XP SP2 compat and as an administrator. And still.. Nothing.. It still thinks the yes button doesn't exist when I click on new game.. I wouldn't suppose anyone has any other idea's? DeadStage
I managed to work it out (I think). I have the GotY edition and I was only installing the first disc (I thought the second disk was only for SI and DLC) so after I installed the second disk because I thought "Why the hell not" it worked. So if anyone else with the GotY edition is having this problem. Install the second disk! I'd like to thank Osteoporozis for his constant help in and taking time out of his day to give me a hand. You rock dude.
