blackcoque
What bothers me most when I wander around the hot desert during the day, with the sun shining constantly in the sky, is that there is no visual acknowledgement that it's the desert. When the courier looks into the distance he/she should be seeing heat waves and sometimes mirages depending on his/her status and locale. A mirage is a real optical phenomenon which can be captured on camera, since light rays actually are refracted to form the false image at the observer's location. What the image appears to represent, however, is determined by the interpretive faculties of the human mind. For example, inferior images on land are very easily mistaken for the reflections from a small body of water. If anyone were to make this idea happen and have mirages and heat waves present in the game one could create things that the courier could see, have some cryptic imagery as well include a few more moments for Wild wild wasteland. The images for realism value can be distorted accordingly: It may be vibrating; it may be vertically extended (towering) or horizontally extended (stooping) several mirages may mix together, perhaps causing double images. Keep in mind it must be able to play with a player's mind. If anyone wants to try to give this a whirl give it a shot, i'm more of a thinker than I am an executor.
