The Champagne dress

Champagne-laced was her dress in blue moon;

Candy-Brown was her tied hair;

And when they locked her in the tower,

When they beat her like an animal in the tower,

And when she cried in tears in the tower,

With grief her love did share.

Blue-breathed came the wind around her iron;

Grey-winkled turned her skin;

And as the years came to pass

And those years did come to pass

When those years came to pass

She faltered about those men.

White-dusted he arrived in canvas set;

Black-spirited she had wove;

But as she saw the knight come riding up,

And when she saw the knight come riding up,

When the knight had come riding up,

His heart she had betroved.

Ghost-pale turned his face before her chains;

Stone-cold he had pressed;

And as he turned to clear the door,

As he came to clear the door,

When he came to clear the door,

He left that Champagne dress.
