Right, To start off I am using Windows 7 64bit.

The problem is, I have 2 4gb RAM sticks in my computer, yet Win7 is only showing 4gb (3.25 usable)

I have done multiple tests and placed both sticks in a separate PC to ensure that no cards are faulty (Which they aren't) and it's still not showing up.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible there is a problem with one of the RAM slots on your motherboard. Try different slots if possible.

Some motherboards still do not have the capability to use more than 4G RAM - check you MB specs and google that MB for problems. I had a MB that was known for having problems with a particular slot.

If the RAM sticks are not identical their may be an incompatibility.

Sometimes the specific slots to be used with 2 sticks are not clear in the documentation - slots 1& 2 or Slots 1& 3 or some other combination may work.

My motherboard only has 2 slots, and I have checked both and they work. If it helps the motherboard is an Asus P5KPL-C.

I know that the sticks are the same and I'm pretty sure that it can hold more than 4G.

I will have to try to find the manual though.

EDIT: The manual says Max 4096, so problem solved I guess.

You might check the manufacturers site to see if there is a BIOS upgrade that allows more RAM. Not very likely, but you might get lucky.

Usually ASUS motherboards had a list of memory that they recommends. As suggested, you can upgrade your BIOS, if you wish to use another type of memory.

I would only suggest that you should reset BIOS to the default settings when adding new hardware..
