Povuholo
This is a known bug, it just happens some times. I'm not sure if this will work if the bug is already there, but the unofficial patch fixes this. So I hope you are on the PC, or else your only option is to make a new character, sorry. Abramul
There is another possible option: load a save from before the bug occured. It might be necessary to use one from before you killed Rufio, or before you were TOLD to kill Rufio, or possibly even before you murdered some random person. EDIT: It should be noted that I don't know anything about this particular bug.
Strider01
Yup there's really nothing you can do but load a earlier save if you are on the Xbox360 version, but you can use the console to trigger or complete certain stage of the quest. The door trigger seems a tricky one. Today I encounter a quest bug too and used console command to complete the quest. {Warning may include spoiler}I wandered into Hackdirt near Chorrol while doing another quest nearby, lockpicked the trapdoor in Moslin's Inn and rescued Dar-Ma without getting the quest "A Shadow over Hackdirt" from her mother Seed-Neeus first. I got 2 quest entry stating that I have rescued Dar-Ma and should carry the news to Seed-Neeus if Dar-Ma perished. I got Dar-Ma back safely right to her mother in the store but Seed-Neeus just don't acknowledge that she is back. I don't have a earlier save (bad habit!) so no choice check out the web and found that setstage <questid> <stage> can be used to change the stage of the quest, I think I used sqt and getstage <questid> to find out the stage of the quest. Simply experiement with various stage till I got it right, reload if wrong. In this case I just change the stage to the last, on completion and getting my reward. Hope this can help. cryocry
This happened to me. I could upload a mod that I made that puts copies of the keys to the well in which you can enter/exit from. The sanctuary doesn't get activated by you opening the door (maybe they have a set dialogue, and you don't even have to be in the Dark Brotherhood?). Anyway, I'll post a link to it once I upload it. HERE IT IS!!! EDIT: Removed the ridiculous number of exclamation marks from your post. Don't do that, it distorts the thread. - Switch
Strider01
I don't see the need to use a mod to get keys on the PC version, you can just use the console command player.additem to get any item in the game, there is a list of all item's object ID on the internet. The Sanctuary Well Key's object ID is 0000B258, so just type player.additem 0000B258
cryocry
So? What if someone doesn't want to use the console?
Strider01
To me using the console is... faster, I keep the number of mods to a mininum to avoid conflicts and problems. Either way it works.

I agree. Even if this mod idea isnt that bad, personally, it wouldnt be something that would inspire me to download it. I would just rather use the console. But as cryocry said, some people dont know how to use the console. A shame really, its easy, all you have to do is google what you're looking for. It would be easier if people would all use the console in times like this, but... ugh, they have to be stupid that way(no offense to anyone who doesn't, I just mean that it's a stupid idea not to use the console when you are doing this). I use the console frequently, and I don't see what's wrong with it.
