Zakuzelo
Exactly what it says on the tin. Not asking to be able to sling fireballs and swing swords unindered, but my right hand needs to be able to do something when my shield is raised. Ideally I should be able to cast healing and buffing spells from behind my shield; the inability to do this kinda ruins paladin play in my book. It's infuriating and baffling that some mod for this apperently doesn't exist. It seems like the simpliest thing. Please help.
BigBizkit
Not so baffling to me. I seriously doubt the engine would allow for that to work.
Noortje
Would have to create well over a hundred new animations.

Sure, there'd be work to be done, but it doesn't seem impossible. Would have to create well over a hundred new animations. For what I'm chiefly frustrated with, the inability to cast behind a shield, you'd have to create what, four animations? Seems doable. duchuy613
As BigBizkit said, the way the game is built doesnt allow you to use 2 animations at the same time. Similar to how you cant sprint and jump simultaneously. To do something like casting or attacking while blocking, you'd have to create a whole new set of animations, and a lot of complicated scripting. And even if someone were to manage to do it, I doubt the scripts could run smooth enough to make the actions responsive enough to be playable. Edited April 22, 2015 by duchuy613
Arocide
I think it is possible to do, if you were to modify the behavior files so the casting / attacking / blocking states could blend in together it 'might' work. Saying might there since I've never actually tried it and a lot of the data used in animation isn't actually in the behavior files or creation kit but Havok does make it possible (at least visually), even in its duct taped state. It's no easy task though combat behavior is very deep and intertwines with numerous other behaviors to create something... well personally I think it is much more complex then it needed to be at least at a glance. Zakuzelo
Oh. Well that explains the lack. How frustrating...but there's workaround for that, surely. Would it work if there's no animation, I wonder? Do fancy spell effects count as animations for the one at a time thing? Alternatively, how about a shield that casts spells when it's raised? That should be doable, Spellbreaker already does it. Maybe a shield that casts stuff when you bash? There's shields that do stuff when they bash things.A mod that casts whatever spell you have equipped when you bash. Or maybe when you power bash? Would it be possible to make power bashing cost mana instead?

Sure you could, Bethesda used perks to modify the bash / apply spells with the bash it could definitely be conditioned to only work for a certain shield or shields only (Player only though). If animation isn't an issue you could use scripted casting which bypasses a characters animation entirely.
Zakuzelo
Hmm. Well, hell, I'm sure what I'm requesting now.Do there exist any mods like this? Attaching spells to shields and whatnot. On the fly, I mean.
