FlankerDFR
I've talked to or wiped out the groups (Boomers, Great Khans etc), reported back to Yes Man, took him up to the Lucky 38 Penthouse and uploaded him into House's Computers, he's gained control of the Securitrons. I did the optional mission of protecting NCR President Kimball, then installed the chip at the power substation; reported back to Yes Man again for the Hoover Dam Battle. I intend to take out the Legion while maintaining fraternal relations with the NCR. The Game Spot Walk Through for WCSBs says I can participate in the dam battle, or slide on by up to the Legion Camp and take on the Legate or talk him down. Then I can take on NCR General Lee or talk him down................then report back to Yes Man one last time to end the game. In my play through though..................when I report back to Yes Man before the Hoover Dam Battle, he tells me I HAVE to destroy the dam to give the NCR no reason to stick around after the battle, and sets my goal as the Dam Control Room, then the generators controls. I can't find any way over the dam (I'm blocked by the wooden structure about 2/3 of the way across [the door says it's inaccessible]), or through it to get up to the Legion Camp to confront Legate Lanius. I have no intention of destroying the dam generators if this is possible. My problem is the discrepancy between what the Game Spot play through says I can do, and what my play through says I must do. Any advice or experiences with this end game scenario would be muchly appreciated! TY!
ngin890
That is rather odd really. In my game i to had to enter the dam but only to activate more sections of it and then i used the inside to get around the annoying wooden barricade. I have never once had yes man tell me to destroy the dam. I am not sure but it might have something to do with your NCR rep or your karma. Though the first game i did had bad rep and karma and this didn't happen. If i were you i would check out the falloutwiki. It is very reliable and i get all my info from there. Sorry i couldn't help you better.
FlankerDFR
My rep with the NCR is good, and so is my karma. I wasn't very clear about Yes Man's instructions..................he's actually told me I have to destroy the generator/s after planting a chip/module in one of the Dam/s computers in the Control room. So it's not destroy the dam, per se. Sounds like I've goofed up by trying to go across the top of the dam, rather than through it at the generator level (after getting stuck on top at the wooden structure; I've planted the module in the Control Room, and tried to go through the dam at that level; which is apparently why I'm stuck). I'll just reload my last save on top of the Dam, then go down into the generator area (skipping the module/Control Room thing) and see if I can find an outlet onto the Legion side of the river. So, your reply was more helpful than you thought! Worse that can happen now; is I'll get stuck or lost on the far side of the generator level. Thanks! FlankerDFR
*&^$&@! I'm still stuck. I'm down in Power Plant 4, real close to the door to Gen Oliver's Compound. When I walk up to the door a prompt tells me I need a key to get in. Facing the General's door, there is a door to my R, that leads to the dam's lower level. If there's an exit to the Legion's side of the river down there, I can't find it. All I can do is go back through the lower level towards the NCR side of the river, or back up into Power Plant 4, 3, 2, etc. If there is an exit to the Legion side of the river from inside the dam what level is it on, or do I need to get a key from someone/where to access Gen. Oliver's compound, then exit to the Legion side of the river from there? TY! This is really weak story writing, the player should be able to ask any of the friendly NPCs where the bleeping exit is. :verymad:
Holyjoely
I just followed the instructions given to me by Yes Man and ended up going to the legate and General Lee. You fight your way across the top of the dam and end up in the Legion Camp then when you have dealt with the Legate and are about to exit the camp General Lee confronts you. FlankerDFR
Thanks for the reply! I've tried playing through both with and without destroying the generators (reloading from a save quite early in the No Gods, No Masters mission). If I destroy the generators half the NCR troops turn enemy and I end up having to fight them too. My only real question is when I do cross over the dam to the Legion side of the river..................is it by crossing on top of the dam, or is the path across via one of the lower interior dam levels? Zephyr2011
If memory serves o don't actually go all the way across the dam. There is a side shoot close to the wooden barricades where several legion troops (centurians for me, not sure if it's always centurians) charge but they come from an off shoot and I believe that's where you go to cross over to legion territory but I could definitely be wrong so don't hold me to that it's been awhile since I did the dam battle. FlankerDFR
Alright................that's what I needed to know. Thanks! I've backed this game up quite a bit anyway to a much earlier save..................gotta play through quite a few side missions again now. I'm going to wipe out Caesar in his camp this time though, then take the chip and activate, rather than destroy the securitron army. Then it'll be Mr. House's turn to "retire permanently". I wanted to see what difference having the securitron army available for the No Gods, No Masters end game would make. Thanks again!

I wanted to see what difference having the securitron army available for the No Gods, No Masters end game would make. Thanks again! Having done both, I can say the only true difference between blowing the damn and activating the additional securitrons is the ending. But then again, I assume the player can wipe out both sides solo by the time they hit this part of the quest. Once you've activated the override trip in the main control room (the one that's guarded during the Dam Battle by 2 salvaged Power Armor Rangers), use your map to get to the door to the new tower you have to go up (which takes you back out on the top of hoover). Note, prior to entering the control room, its wise to stealth in unless you don't mind killing NCR too. East side in the quest's terms basically mean head towards legate's camp.
