igod1
Hi, my first post. My problem is that I cant add anymore mods without removing an active mod. Ive got 147 active mods[ive read 220 should be fine], Ive been using FNVEdit to remove any conflicts. What happens is if I add a mod without removing another within the game I lose ESC and E button abilities and when entering the pipboy all my reskins and modded items have a blank icon, if I bring out a modded weapon or clothing I get the "!" or no skin at all. Ive tried reordering my plugins -weapons, armour. etc, Ive even tried putting the new mod in the top, bottom, middle, etc. Nothings worked accept replacing one mod with another. Now Ive been modding games for ner on 10yrs now with little problem. FO3 caused me not one problem compared to this and Im going insane. It occurred before the new patch, and wasnt fixed by it either. Has someone a solution! Thankyou all
Nadimos
Know your mods and simplify. Go through them with fallout3edit. Delete identical to master records and merge what you can merge with gecko or whatever it is called here for fallout new vegas. I have almost all my weapons and clothing mods merged. Thats quite a chunk. Last but not least you want to apply a merged patch, but only after you have weeded out all the funky stuff and done your load order. Also i think with the patch quite a few mods broke. So you will have to keep that aspect in mind aswell. Overall i simply would not reach out that far by having that many mods installed, while all this stuff is still goin on. In essence choose wisely and carry a leight weight. Otherwise you wont get any rest nor time to play. Edited December 22, 2010 by Nadimos
secksegai
Also note that FNVedit is a beta, you can't expect it to catch everything, especially in a game that's not all that stable to begin with. I would strongly recommend you go with Nadimos's advice, as its basically what I do myself - the people who hit over 100 mods would often save themselves a lot of headaches and hassles by getting more familiar with the geck. igod1
Guys great advice, just one thing geck totally does my head in. The geck web site is no help and the geck layout sucks. Can anyone show me how to merge files etc.
davidlallen
As nadimos mentions, you want fallout mod manager (FOMM), not geck. You can get FOMM from the newvegasnexus download page. FOMM has quite a large modder-written manual. FNVedit can also do it, and it also has a huge manual.
