smuppet Posted December 22, 2010 Share Posted December 22, 2010 After playing though New Vegas on hardcore I felt that the whole survival aspect was sorely lacking. Your survival skill is more of a measure of your ability to cook rather than your ability to live off the land. What I want to do is create a mod that makes it so survival becomes far more relevant. I want to do this by having a skill check for taking meat and hides from animals, for example you would need 35 survival to skin and butcher a gecko. If you had a survival skill lower than 35 you would not be able to take anything from a gecko. I want to do the same for harvestable plants; you need to have a certain level of survival skill to be able to identify and harvest plants. I have some basic programming experience but I have absolutely no experience scripting in the GECK. I was hoping some nice person here might be able to give me some tips and pointers on how I would go about scripting this mod. :tongue: I have an idea on how I might handle the harvestable plants; I plan to edit the "if" statement on the script for the plants to include a skill check, but i have absolutely no idea about how I would go about scripting the skill check for skinning and butchering animals.
