MarchUntoTorment
A gatling laser would actually be really cool! I was thinking something high-rate-of-fire anyway, so this works great. And it fits neatly with the aesthetic, too. For animation, might I suggest as an alternative the use of the Industrial Hand animation? Or does that not work for whatever reason? Manus812
I remember I requested an arm minigun gauntlet a while back. Looks like ppl have similar ideas :)
devinpatterson
For animation, might I suggest as an alternative the use of the Industrial Hand animation? Or does that not work for whatever reason? The industrial hand is the hand to hand melee animation, we need to use a attack loop (for automatic, ranged weapons). I remember I requested an arm minigun gauntlet a while back. Looks like ppl have similar ideas  Yeah embedded weapons are a popular idea in anime, games (all the way back to Quake 2), fiction etc. Fun stuff. Manus812
I really like this idea!! Maybe you can put a handle that connects to the gauntlet rather than an invisible trigger. Minigun would be cool. Edited April 30, 2015 by Manus812
MarchUntoTorment
Alright, then the one-hand SMG .kf should work fine - I already use WAR, so I can probably get it to be used one-handed anyhow. Any further thoughts on how this should be structured? I'm thinking that this should be a sizeable weapon (about the size of the 12.7mm SMG or so). devinpatterson
I really like this idea!! Maybe you can put a handle that connects to the gauntlet rather than an invisible trigger. Minigun would be cool. I thought about moving the pad (trigger pad?) on the knuckles into the palm so that it would be something like squeezing the pad to fire the gauntlet. But the gauntlet is/can be worn all the time, even if you have another weapon in your hand. So in that light I decided against it. I think a handle would be the same problem. Probably better to assume there is some fallout/tech way of activating the gauntlet (neuromuscular signals or some such). Any further thoughts on how this should be structured? I'm thinking that this should be a sizeable weapon (about the size of the 12.7mm SMG or so). I can't remember if the chain/gatling guns turn the barrels but always fire from the top barrel or if they fire from each barrel in turn, in a cycle. If it's the later (and most likely with fido/k900 which I think fires from each barrel) then that's done by moving the projectile node as part of the weapon animation. That may be a further complication, as I don't know if moving teh projectile node simply translates it and everything is hunky dory or if projectile node will revert back to it's positions as it goes through the animation (which would put it totally out of sync with the weapon mesh). I'm guessing it will be fine, but I don't know for sure. How about while I am experimenting with the chaingun/reciprocating barrel, we try some easier goals? I could put together a tesla like arm cannon or mini cannon (mounted on the forearm) of some tesla armor. Or some other power armor variant with a arm cannone, forearm mounted mini cannon, or guantlet that doesn't have complicated moving parts in the nif. MarchUntoTorment
How about just a wrist-mounted 12.7mm SMG, then? Just as a test to see if it's feasible.
devinpatterson
How about just a wrist-mounted 12.7mm SMG, then? Just as a test to see if it's feasible. I'd recommend an energy weapon (and it's resulting recharger ammo), since we lack a reloading animation to fit it and that ties in well with the power armors having their micro energy sources. But if you really want a 12.7mm I can do that. If so did you want me to use the 12.7s mesh as a base or have something else in mind?
MarchUntoTorment
I do prefer ballistic weapons in this instance; I don't much mind lack of reloading animation. A possible solution would be to make the magazine size positively enormous (eg, 10,000 rounds) so that it can only use as much ammo as the player has on them (thus, no infinite ammunition), but the weapon never needs to reload? I've tested that with other weapons and I seem to recall it working then. And yeah, I was hoping for the 12.7mm SMG as a base mesh; it seems about the right sort of proportions, and has a not-dissimilar look to the arm-mounted assault rifles from Edge Of Tomorrow (which were, again, the main inspiration for this). And, as you said before, preferably configured to fit neatly with ballistic weapons. Although if you're enamoured with the idea of an energy weapon, I wouldn't mind seeing an arm-mounted laser rifle mesh either. That could actually look pretty cool. Whatever suits you, Devin! :) Either way, I'd like to request that it's configured to fit with the T-51b arm mesh (the Tesla replacer I use, which is Daejones' FO3 Colossus Enclave, I'm pretty sure uses a retex'd T-51b forearm mesh for its armours, since the original forearm looks kind of ugly. You're welcome to take a look if you'd like!). Thanks for being such a big help with this!
Manus812
I would like to see one with the Shoulder Mounted Machine Gun model on the Fist. Wonder if getting the barrels to rotate will be hard.
