Skyrim Modded?

Hi, I'm currently building a desktop, and as you can probably tell i am a bit new to the whole visual improvements for games considering the past 2-3 years i have been gaming on a laptop, i know, i know its probably the worst way to game, but i am just wondering what sort off extent i could mod skyrim to with the following system:

 

 

AMD FX 8320

XFX R9 290 DD Edition

8GB RAM (possibly 16 if needed)
