smuppet
After following the tutorial on how to add new items to a vendor using a quest script I realised that not all vendor containers seem to have ref IDs. Is this my mistake because Im looking at the wrong containers or is this just something I have to learn to deal with? Also I tried to add a new container to a vendor by following the tutorial pretty much down to the letter and it didnt work. Is there any details left out from that tut or am I just dumb? kato85
All of the vendor containers in the GECK for NV should look something like this: VendorContainerGunRunnerHQ There are some containers from F3 still mixed in, but all of the NV vendors use the same format for their containers. EDIT: I think I may have misunderstood what you meant. Most scripts I've seen have added items to a leveled list so they randomly appear in a vendor's inventory. I would probably try that instead of trying to add the item directly to the vendor's inventory. Edited December 24, 2010 by kato85
davidlallen
It is convenient to give a name to the merchant container, but not necessary. If you edit the reference of the vendor NPC (the reference, not the NPC) there is a tab "merchant container" which allows you to set and view the related container. That may be what you were missing. When you say the tutorial "does not work" for you, what is wrong? Are you able to interact with the NPC and see the barter menu? Are you able to put and take items in the barter screen? We can help, if you give a little more information.
smuppet
Sorry I wasn't very clear in my initial post. What I am trying to do is add some items to vendor inventories so that they will respawn. I followed the tutorial from the GECK wiki and the items didn't show up in the vendors inventory. I tried adding items by quest script first which worked fine but when I tried to add a new container to a vendor nothing new was showing up in the vendor's inventory. To add items to leveled lists I'm assuming it's pretty much the same script for adding items to containers except you use the level list ID rather than the container ref ID yeh? Im a bit of a novice so far when it comes to the GECK :P Thanks for the help Happy Christmas by the way :] Edited December 25, 2010 by smuppet
