Nemowski Posted December 23, 2010 Share Posted December 23, 2010 I keep getting annoyed when I just stand up or walk for a second and suddenly everyone in 100 meter radius notices me, even through the walls. How loud can walking and standing up be compared to sneaking while crouching? So it makes me wonder if it would be possible to create a mod that would keep you in sneak mode while standing still or walking (maybe with a Sneak penalty while in that mode, but not necessarily). I'm looking for info on that - if it is possible to make/ what would it involve and such , and a modder that would be interested in doing it... or if no one is, but it's possible to make such mod, I would eventually try to make it myself. I believe such mod would meet A LOT of praise from the community, and would give the game a bit of Hitman feeling :D . Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
kato85 Posted December 24, 2010 Share Posted December 24, 2010 Thanks to the built-in game mechanics, I don't believe such a mod is possible (as it is possible to create a mod that creates a stealth field while standing but you are still very much detectable). Unless someone were able to alter the source code for the game, it can't happen, and such a mod would be illegal, so it would never make it to the community anyway. davidlallen Posted December 24, 2010 Share Posted December 24, 2010 I have not looked into the details, but detection takes into account many factors such as the noise of the armor you are wearing, and so forth. Perhaps by finding these variables, and setting them to almost 0 for most armors, you could get close to the effect you want. Or perhaps the threshold at which enemies react to noise could be raised. Shumiry Posted January 2, 2011 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Hello, I too have been trying to figure out a way to do this. Right now all I've been able to do is mod the gameplay setting fMoveSneakMult to 1 so that I'm not any slower while sneaking. But that just makes the character move fast and jittery. I've been trying to find whatever it is that triggers the change in character model use and camera angle, and will continue searching.Furthermore, if you go to Object window >> actors >> NPC >> player, and scroll sideways on the tabs to the Animation tab, it has a list of KF files which it seems to reference for all character model actions. In this list are the sneak movements and attacks, and if you check the preview box you can view a bland character model performing the animation you selected from the list.I'm wondering if it might be possible to find these KF files and replace the sneak movement and attack files with the standing ones, perhaps by copying and renaming them, so that the KF file named sneakmoveback (or whatever) will be the same model as standmoveback (or whatever). Although that alone might cause camera issues, since it lowers your point of view when you enter sneak. Any further feedback will be appreciated. Shumiry Posted January 4, 2011 Share Posted January 4, 2011 Me again. I was able to get some promising results. By extracting the KF files from the meshes.bsa and replacing the sneak.kf files with renamed corresponding normal action KF files, I was able to run and stand while still having (HIDDEN) at the top of the screen. However, there were, as I suspected, some camera issues and I intend on looking into them. Unfortunately I had to reformat my PC and am in the process of getting everything up and running again.
