My favourite NPC is Balgruuf. He is the only NPC I care for in the slightest.

Maybe even Nazeem as he at least leaves an impression which most of the others - the more I think about it - do not.

Afterthought: Ok, Cicero and Septimus are interesting. Miraak has a cool voice. I like Niranye (or sth) the Altmer vendor in Windhelm, but mostly because of the voice which I really like.

Lydia! Cliche'd, I know. It warms my heart knowing that for someone so loyal, she still grumbles a lot about the junk I make her carry. *gleeful cackle*

General Tulias in the opening scene at Helgen (when your about to get your head chopped off).
Force him as a follower, mainly just to be cruel to him and give him poop (eg: set his home and duties in enemy areas and then tell him to go do those duties, love watching him get beat up constantly).

Headsmen from the opening scene in Helgen at start of the game (the bloke who's about to chop your head off).
As forced follower he's a little chatty, but very loyal in battle and I admire his loyalty and always give him a decent home and duty locations.

The older male weedy Stormcloak soldier in Helgen Keep (Balding head and face hair, where you meet the Torturer and the imperial wizard bloke).
Another force follower, pretty chatty and loyal in battle.
Another one I look after as he's a weed, but his loyalty is admirable and I set his home in the same place as the Headsmen.

Annekke, normal follower, what's not to like, pleasure to cruise Tamriel with
She also likes to be steward of HF homes.

Lissette, forced follower, such a sweet voice and a pleasure to look at.
Often nab her (after finished her associated quests), give her a home in Lakeview Manor, add her to the BYHO Bard faction eg:

addfac xx018de1
(xx = hearfires.esm load position)
From there she will keep all my other tenants happy with her sweet voice.

Gonnar from Riften, use him as a forced follower, I like his appearance and as a follower he is silent most the time (due to he doesn't have audio dialogue for following).
Never give him a home, just take him for a spin sometimes.

Ahlam, Nazeems wife, I call her my little chocolate drop :)
She scrubs up well in leather scale armor and she has a temper when in battle.
Another forced follower and I'm glad I have her on my side.

Keeper Carcette (VoS) from Hall of the Vigilant
Scrubs up well and nice to look at, I call here my pocket rocket :)
She is not shy when she comes to battle and loves to be house steward for any of the HF houses.
Forced follower, need to get her before going to Dawnguard, otherwise you miss out on her.

Blonde female (VoS) from Hall of the Vigilant that you find in the basement sitting there.
She is a pleasure to my eyes and also likes to be a steward in my HF homes (usually don't use her as steward though).
Forced follower, need to get her before going to Dawnguard, but you also see her as a chance encounter a lot of the time.

Adalvald (VoS) you find him dead in Dawnguard mission to find Serana.
I usually resurrect him and force him as a follower, enjoy his company while traveling around Skyrim.
I set him a home in Dawnguard HQ, spawn him a double bed and the Blonde female (VoS) shares it with him.

Isran is fun to have as a forced follower, but have to be careful as it's quite easy to break Dawnguard questline.
I take him for a spin on occasion and return him when I've finished with him.

Illia from Darklight Tower, normal follower.
I enjoy her company when at home or on the road.

Bori from the Greybeards, he's a character and a half and most the time has a grin on his face.
Forced follower, give him a glass bow and he smiles like crazy.
He uses that glass bow like a pro and in between uses shouts.
For an old bloke he sure causes havoc in battle.

Brunwulf Free-Winter from Winterhold.
Forced follower, likes to be steward of HF houses, I like his view on things in winterhold.
He's not shy in battle either.

Ulfberth War-Bear from Whiterun
Forced follower, stocky and a cheating sneaky b@stard, I like that about him..lol
If you check his pockets you'll see why I say cheating sneaky!

I'll stop here as
Damn there's just to many, I love em all apart from cats and lizards.

I haven't even got to Falskaar forced followers yet.
But once again, love em all, even the antagonists and I use them as followers as well.

Favorite Follower: Stenvar hands down! :woot: ...I enjoy his dialog and his battle style, works flawlessly with my preferred battle style...and makes a mean looking team with my Dovahkin

Favorite Character: Isran, would have loved more dialog from him and if the Game had offered him as a Follower ...am now thinking about trying what Sloppy has done and console Isran as a Follower, though would wait until after completing the Dawnguard myself

I also like Erik the Slayer, but won't use him as a Follower with my RP's, is too green for my Dovahkins, they wouldn't take someone not already battle hardened.

Also like Captain Aldis, I don't know why, just do.

Durak, another I just like.

Madanach and Kaie...I like the Forsworn as a whole really.

Their all the favorites who come straight to mind anyway

Love Isran's character and wish he were a follower at the end without using mods to do so.

Love Balgruuf and his brother Hrongar too. All this standing around is rubbish.

And I have a soft spot for many of the vendors in Riften. Madesi, Marise, and Brand-Shei always express gratitude each time I see them after completing their quests. Felt awful seeing Madesi sleeping in Beggar's Row. They're all part of why I can't join the Thieves' Guild.

As for favorite followers: Erik the Slayer and Erandur

For mod added followers it's Inigo and Vilja without a doubt.

In the original game it's too hard to choose. Probably Marcurio because I love his comments and attitude. I've also have a weakness for any character voiced by Claudia Christian but I think Rikke might be my favorite of those.

I also like Erik the Slayer, but won't use him as a Follower with my RP's, is too green for my Dovahkins, they wouldn't take someone not already battle hardened.

Why not help him gain a little experience if you like him. Go back and pick him up, give him some equipment, take him on a tour of some of the first dungeons you cleared (which get tagged as lower level) and after he's got a little experience send him home to defend his village. The first time I did that it worked out naturally by accident. He had gotten a bit of experience and we had already fought two dragons when we passed through Rorikstead. I had been wondering how to tactfully dismiss him and conveniently a dragon was attacking the village when we arrived. After we defeated it I realized that was the perfect excuse to leave him at home. Eric the Slayer had just shown the entire village that he had earned that title as Erik the Dragon-Slayer.

Recruiting for the Blades is another good excuse for taking him along for a little while. It would make sense for you take him on a few small missions to see if he's got enough potential before handing him over to Delphine.
