Trouble with frequent crashes

Hello

Im having some serious issues with my computer and Oblivion.

When i start up the game and play it for about 5 minutes the game will simply crash. I will not recieve any error messages, the game will just freeze and i will have to CTRL-Shift-Esc out in order to exit the game. However the game itself does not seem to freeze but i am unable to do anything. The backround will still work like moving grass but my character and NPCs will not move. I can not move my mouse or use any keyboard buttons or hotkeys.

These are some of the things i have tried.

1. Reinstalling oblivion without installing patches, mods or shivering isles.

2. Reinstalling oblivion and removing any trace of it from my computer before reinstalling. Like savegame files etc.

3. Reinstalling oblivion without installing mods.

4. I have even tried to install it on a different hard drive but it had no result.

I have no idea what causes this problem but i did not have this problem before:

1. Uppgrading graphics card from Nividia Geforce 9600GT - Nvidia Geforce GTX 470 1280 MB.

2. Uppgrading my monitor to a 23 inch widescreen with 1920x1080 resolution 16:9 ratio.

I did not use to play the game on highest possible settings before but i have also tried to adjust them down to the lowest and medium etc but with no result. I realise this is very little info about my problem but i have searched a little bit around the web and i have found noone with similiar problems. If there is any info you want about my computer dont hesitate and i will try to answer.

When you uninstalled, did you remember the file in your documents folder?

Try renaming or deleting the oblivion.ini file (...\My Documents\My Games\Oblivion\Oblivion.ini)

Oblivion will then redetect hardware. It will also, probably, not recognize your video card and set everything to medium. Just change the settings according to what you think your card will support (You can always change them later)

Also, make sure you don't have a bunch of extra stuff running in the background.
