Uninstall help

You might try uninstalling Oblivion through Windows Control Panel ("Add - Remove Programs"), if the game's own uninstall applet is messing up.

If that fails, you can always just delete the entire game folder, via Windows Explorer. Then re-install a fresh copy of Oblivion and follow up with the official patch. Hopefully, there won't be any system registry issues if you do it that way. There shouldn't be.

Good luck. 8)

i had the same problem, what i did was to system restore back to the time that i installed oblivion, then uninstall it. seemed to work fine from that. nothing else that i had tried (oblivion uninstall and the add/remove programs) worked and came up with the same message as that.

The only thing to be careful with in regards to a System Restore is this: if you installed anything else that you care about since the last Restore Point was set, you'll lose a lot of that stuff, too... and you'll need to reinstall it.

Deleting the game folder should be fine. So far as I can tell, the only Registry entries that Oblivion creates are simply directory entries that tell the game where its folders are located. Each time you re-install it, those entries will automaticcally be updated and changed, anyway... so a simple deletion and re-install should do the trick.
