hello listien i just got the new vegas game for my pc.....and im rather new to this whole mod thing...how do u downloud a mod to the game ..wht kinda zipfile do i need..wht folder do i pute it in???im on fallout nexus and tried downlouding a mod....nothing.....can anybody give me some pointers...thanks

1 to download (get mod from site to your computer)

Look down on the mod page for 'Files' - click on it. Usually there is just one, but there may be more than one file here. Pick the one you want - click on it - follow the directions from your downloader - it's slightly different depending on your Web browser (IE, Firefox, Chrome)

 

Pick a place to download to - it's best to set this up ahead of time I use downloads>game downloads > name of game. Download into this folder so you can find it (windows will place downloads into obscure places if you don't tell it where to put it)

 

Now that you have the mod downloaded, you will need to extract it as mods come in a compressed format (zipped) to do this you will need a file compress/uncompress program - the one I use is FREE 7-zip available right here on the Nexus: http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=15579

 

Using the unzipping program, it will ask where to unzip to. The easiest place is the data folder of the game: located wherever you installed steam to. On my system that is C:\Games\steam\steamapps\common\Fallout new vegas\data

 

But if you installed to the default location. steam is probably in your program files folder (not the best place as it is protected by the UAC there which may cause problems with mods)

 

After the mod has been extracted to the data folder, be sure to open the data when you start the game and check the mod so it will be active in the game.
